Yes Happy Thanksgiving to all! (does the ACLU still allow us to say "Thanksgiving"?) Thanksgiving Day Proclamation of 1789 by President George Washington Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor, and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanks giving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many single favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the Service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks, for His kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation, for the single and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of His providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war, for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed, for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, of the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have to acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge and in general for all the great and various favors which He hath been pleased to confer upon us. And also that we may then unite in most humble offering our prayers and supplications to the Great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions, to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually, to render our national government a blessing to all people, by constantly being a government of wise, just and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed, to protect and guide all Sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace and concord. To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us, and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone know to be best. |

Thank you J. Scott for posting this proclamation. I plan to read it to my family before we say the blessing for our Thanksgiving meal. Considering that my family is supporting my decision to apply for admittance to law school after the impending conclusion of my MBA, I can't think of a better way to grace the occasion. Everyone please be safe during the holidays and enjoy your time with family. For those of you who will spend the holiday alone (as I have done myself in the past as a bachelor), know that your family of riders here are with you in spirit. Keep the rubber side down and don't drink and drive. |

The weather is going to let me ride home, instead of taking the car. That, and a host of other things make me very thankful. I would like to say thank you to all the men and women in uniform serving our GREAT nation. I have spent a few holiday seasons overseas, and I know how hard this time of year can be on the young men and women that are deployed....I will be thinking of them and what they are giving us....Thank you |

We had our thanksgiving up here in the great white north over a month ago. I think I am ready for turkey again. I guess I will have to wait until Christmas. Happy Thanksgiving fellow Buellers and those in the mid-west, go chase down some turkeys! I've punted a couple of grouse on my off road adventures (yes I ate 'em)but a wild turkey would be somethin' else!! Freezer |

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving day. I'll be spending my 2nd Thanksgiving in a row away from Kandie. That sucks. We decided it just wasn't worth 10 hours of driving for one day at home. I'm not sure of that. |

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Since tonight is one of the biggest bar-hopping nights of the year...DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! You do want to actually make it to Thanksgiving dinner, right? |

Yeah, surprise her and go home Dave. When you get there tell her you just couldn't bear being away from her. She'll remember that for the rest of her life. Oh yeah, and don't be a dufus - bring flowers...and pie, lots of pumpkin pie. God speed. |

agreed F_B! (if I make that BF does that qualify me as dyno-mutt?) don't eat too much or your leathers will be too tight next time you go out for a ride, and we wouldn't want that. Having to cancel a ride because your leathers won't fit anymore would suck. You would cancel wouldn't you? Anyway don't contribute to the chronic problem of winter "Leather shrinkage". |
