34, been riding more than half my life, starting with a Honda Elsinore 175 (was my dad's) and the first bike I owned was a 1976 Honda CB750F1. My big bumblebee. |

54 Ridden, raced, tuned, owner of a bike business, never been without one or more bikes since 1968. First two wheels 1958 Vespa 125!! Worst bike ever a brand new 1200 Sportster in '92...traded back to the dealer after one week. Took a lot of decision making to buy a Firebolt with a similar engine...........no regrets now. Its a gas. |

41 - First ride was a Motobecane Model 7 - 50cc moped at 14yo. My brother and I managed to put 20,000 miles on it in two years. The funny thing is that this is my first underslung exhaust experience. It split after the first year and then it was load for the second year we had it. At 16yo I switched to four-wheel transportation until 2003 - Ulywife put a deposit on my first motorcycle for father's day. Approaching 60,000 miles on the bikes so I guess I am making up for lost time. (Message edited by M2nc on November 12, 2006) |

57 - First bike a 1960 Lark minibike, 10in. wheels and 10hp McClough chainsaw motor without a muffler. One month later the city police suggested a muffler was in order. 1965 Honda 150 Dream blue with red seat. With this bike I learned NEVER EVER Armour-All your motorcycle seat. Next a 1967 Honda 305 Superhawk. 1967 to 1971 in the US Navy - 2 years in Naples, Italy. I'm walking up Via Manzoni when an Itlaian man says, "You standa back, the big motorace she a come subito. On a 170 degree downhill turn comes a group of 8 or 10 riders with engines schreeking all laid over knee draggin. I never knew 50cc motorcycles could invoke terror but they got my attention and the crowd went crazy. Italians are passionate about their motorcycle races and engine displacement just doesn't matter. 1973 Kawasaki 125 2-stroke street and trail. The absolute best form of transportation from Fairfax to Arlington on Columbia Pike to Control Data school. 1974 I'm in Blouder, CO for field service school and my wife goes to the bank to make the last bike payment getting ready to move to WV. She gets back to the apartment and the only thing there is a cut chain around the tree where the bike was when she left. 1982 I got a used Yamaha DT250 street and trail for Christmas. You gotta love a wife that buys her hubby a bike. Good bike if you need Vibromassage. 7 miles to work and hands, feet, and rearend were numb. 2004 got a Blast. A great way to re-enter motorcycling. Took the Blast in for a 1000 mile service and there she was. A bright yellow 2003 XB9SL leftover. Well yeh I took a test ride and now have 11,000 miles on her. I've only had one prolem in 11,000 miles and that was when I couldn't find my key. |

31 now. Started at 6 on our 1965 3 speed Italian minibike which is considered a motorcycle by law. At 10 started riding the 1969 Yamaha 250 Enduro. What a beast! At 14 got the Bridgestone 110 Enduro out and got her running. Very cool bike! At 16 got my car license and a week later my bike license. Road my Dad's Suzuki GS750 for 2 years. Worst handling bike ever made. Starting swapping time on my Brother's 1993 Concours and 1993 KLR650. Bought my first new bike, a 1996 KLX650C, in March of 1997. Bought a 1975 Yamaha 250 Enduro in the fall of 1997 and rebuilt it. Bought a 1998 Honda Superhawk in the spring of 1998. Sold the 1974 Yamaha in May of 1998. Sold both the KLX and Superhawk in 2002. Bought a 1984 Honda Magna 500 in November of 2005. Bought the 1993 KLR650 from my brother in April of 2006 and sold the Magna the same month. Bought my 2nd new bike, the Ulysses, in July and sold the KLR in August. Pretty much converted it to an '07 and will keep it for a long time to come. |

48. My '04 XB12S is my first "owned" bike bought at 46, but I've been riding my friend's and friendly dealer's bikes since I was 18. Old friend owned a Yamaha/Honda dealership, as well as the HD dealership years ago, and I had several friends who worked at a Kawasaki dealership as well. I've always been a "road racing" fan, and I've sampled several really cool bikes from the late '70s and early '80s, including the Honda 750F SuperSport and 750 Interceptor; Kawasaki SR500, 650SR, every GPz made, and the legendary Z1-R; Suzuki ES550, GS750, and GS1000 and several Katanas, and a few odd Yamahas. But my favorite memories are the '77 HD XLCR - a bike they couldn't sell back then! |

48. Started riding when I was 16, sold my Goldwing in 1988 'cause I got sick and tired of people trying to kill me. Picked up the bug again this past summer, and purchased a 12X in September. Having a blast. I would say that cagers are generally more sensitive to the presence of motorcycles today than when I hung it up 18 years ago. Perhaps all those 'Start Seeing Motorcycles' bumper stickers worked. |
