Pick your parts is what they did in '99. As Court mentioned, 7000 configuration possibilities. The problem with it is production costs are higher and it completely screws up your Just In Time inventory system. |

All XB's and Blast's are molded in color. Always have been. |

You would have to paint the front with the mirror image to be really effective. I like it! |

Since 1999 communication tools have significantly improved and business processes have been refined. Having the client customize before assembly almost guarantees sale before manufacture. Sounds like an opportunity to reduce in-process inventory and its associated costs while increasing customer satisfaction to me. |

its evident with this release that buell mo co needs a shakeup. Perhaps the old timers running the show need to go and guys with fresh ideas can come in and take their place. It looks like erik used up all his ideas on the xb platform and has grown stale. and court if you think that erik stood in front of the international media and was proud of the achievement that is the XB12STT then its evident that he now settles for mediocrity and maybe its time he moved onto something else and let someone with new ideas take over. |

I wonder if all of this could have been avoided if they would have just called it a XB12 City X. Just steered clear of the Motard all together. |

"I stand corrected, it was 423 combinations." FYI Court, I should warn you that such numeric discrepancies are frowned upon here by a certain high profile person. Said exaggerations have been equated to lying. Me however, I understood what you meant. I still think that after the real stuff comes out in 08 (pretty please), they can still milk the XB line for all it's worth with a unique "Have it your way" system. I'm talking pick your powerplant, fairing, suspension bits (low, norm, slightly high, high), tail sections, wheels, etc. Then I bet you would even exceed your previous combination number (7000). |

Hmmmmm. Court, "mix and match" sounds familiar! Was there this much vinegar in 1992 prior to the XB line? |

In 1992 the hot number were a couple custom made RSS1200's. Still quite awesome in my eye. |

Check it out, Guzzi (often called the HD of Italy) is building a new air-cooled 4 valve per cylinder engine. http://www.motorcycledaily.com/15november06_2007mo toguzzi.htm Modern Moto Guzzis, with their two-valve, air-cooled motors, are generally not considered "high performance" motorcycles, but that is about to change. How about a more modern v-twin with four valve heads, displacing 1200cc? The Griso 8V introduced in Milan by Moto Guzzi will produce well over 100 horsepower and in the neighborhood of 80 pound feet of torque. By naked bike standards, that's pretty darn "high performance". Although Moto Guzzi had previously manufactured an eight valve engine, the Griso 8V features "a completely new engine" according to Moto Guzzi, and we can expect to see this engine used by other models in the future. Other new features on the Griso 8V include radially mounted Brembo brake calipers, a redesigned muffler, and a new seat. Moto Guzzi also states the bar/peg/seat relationship has been changed for improved ergonomics. The bike should be available from May 2007 in Moto Guzzi Red and Black. |
