Yep, it even happened to me, XB9SX feb 2006 with 10350km (6540ml). Enjoying a lovely sunday in october, just 5 ml from home, snatch, my belt snapped. Pushing the bike home in full battle dress made me sweat like a horse. Think this is a little to soon for a belt to break, never worked on the rear wheel myself, cleaned the bike the day before and didn't notice any wear on the belt. Is there perhaps an "emergency belt" on the market witch you can snap-on an cruse to the nearest dealer???

had you removed your belt guards? heehee, sorry couldnt resist. that SUCKS pushing a bike. I was told yesterday (HD dealer) that the 07 belt is better than the 06 and has no service interval, it lasts forever! no idea if this is true or not |

NO, didn't remove anything other than dirt. A city-x is able to survive the urban jungle, there are no gravel roads in Belgium, but the tarmac is of a questionable quality. (not on my commuting roads that is) |

The 06 and 07 belts are identical. Either one is SUPPOSED to last the life of the bike without ever needing replacement. That sucks... |

Occasionally, there are such things as manufacturing defects. No real way to be 100% certain. |

It suck's, Bike has just been driven to the dealer on a motor trailer, tanks to HOG assistance, and I expect the dealers verdict tomorrow. Hopefully the bike's life extends that of the belts, because otherwise ... My Buell experience is still positive, the sheer pleasure you get driving these bikes can easily withstand a minor draw back like this. |

expect 250+ euros from dealer for the new belt + 1 hr of handwork. say 300€ total. I live in Italy and I bought it from an USA internet shop. saved at least 100€. plus you can mount it yourself, taking your time, doing things "like it was your bike" and not someone else's never trust your mechanic, he's always in hurry, and he could never care your bike more than YOU do. My belt snapped after 21000 km, xb9s 2003. I think it could have lasted longer if I would have done the mainteinance myself (ie replacing rear tires). my 02c |

from xb9sx to Xxxb9s, bike is still under warranty, so no charge. Just 295€ for the new scorpion synchro rear tire that I ordered after 10350Km to drive safely trough the winter. No more nagging, let's ride and grind.
