Be a real shame if this bike were for the Euro market only and not sold in the US. I like the comment about being sized for the "average size European rider". The low seat height of Harleys (Sportsters in particular) has kept me from buying one...that and the lack of a modern XLCR or improved XR1000 in the lineup. |

Its still not the sportster a Buell XB9 is. The exhaust system looks too large for the design. The article link doesn't mention Buell at all, yet there are some similarities.

right, like sitting down and talking to the "not so attractive" person of the opposite sex at the bar to see if there's something inside to like when there's someone hotter and more immediately attractive around ..... D |

what is the round silver cap under the seat? Oil cap. Click my profile and you'll see it on my '04. All Rubber Sportsters ('04+) have the pop out oil cap on the tank. --Sean |

I like most of the styling except the pipes. They just seem wrong, though I don't know how I'd improve them. Well, other than putting them under the bike, but I don't see that happening. (Message edited by jlnance on October 11, 2006) |

Some clip-ons, 2 in 1 performance exhaust, (don't know the specifics on the front-end) and you'd have yourself a nice little scoot. G2 |

Why is it a suprise that Europe would get a model that we wouldn't? It happens all the time; MT100, Honda Fireblade, tons of Apprila's and Mille's. Even cars Ford is the most popular for making Euro only sub compacts only available in the Euro market... |

I'll probably get banned from the BadWeb for this statement, but if that bike had been in the showroom last year I would never have bought my XB. In fact, I've just spent the last hour and a half searching the web for somebody selling a frame/tank/seat kit to accept my XB engine, swing arm, shock and fork, ending up with a bike similar to that pictured above. I found not what I was looking for. |

Why would you get banned for that? Buy and ride the bike you like! My last "badweb buell ride" had three Buells, two Harleys, a Victory, and a Yamaha. Everybody liked and appreciated everybodies bike, I thought they were all interesting motorcyles I would enjoy owning. I would not trade my 9sx for that Harley, but would not blame somebody who did. Whatever floats your boat! |

Bill, It's the fad these days to lead off most any statement here with some reference to getting banned. I'm going to join in on the fun too so I can feel like I'm cool, informed, objective, a real rebel, no not meaning that I want to feel like a cheep 250cc street bike. I'll probably get banned from BadWeB for saying this, but I like all kinds of motorcycles. Give it a try, it's pretty easy. I feel so cool and superior now. |

Adrenaline Junkie...If the Street Tracker is really what you want and you can't own two bikes, I suggest selling or trading your XB12SS and buying the Street Tracker. The only reason I say this is that I checked into converting my X1 and by the time I totaled up the cost, I was further ahead selling my X1 and waiting for this new bike or one like it. Gosh, even the Storz and Lawwill bikes were too expensive. I assume this will be as it should fall in line with other Sportster Models. Just make sure you want the Street Tracker for its looks and moderate performance as I am willing to bet that your XB12SS will out perform it in almost every way. The inverse is I believe the aftermarket will enable you to add performance to the Street Tracker, but still the Tube Frame and basic geometry of it will pale in comparison to your Buell. That said, I am buying the HD Street Tracker as soon as I can and I don't expect it to run or handle like a Buell. I just like the style. In the event you want to build one, here is a pic I found while surfing Street Trackers that really turned me on.

I knew you'd like this bike Bill. I thought of you as soon as I saw it. It has Outrider written all over it! I'll get banned for saying this, but to be honest I really don't care! Ya hear me Blake? I DON'T CARE! I like it for the same reasons, the performance numbers are the same as for a stock XB9, with 5lbs more torque. Shed that big ol' EPA friendly muffler. Use an XB front fork and wheel, along with an XB rear wheel. Replace the rear shocks with the nice ones from Olins. They have some extra nice ones they use on the ZREX. If the injection is the same as the Buell, tweek the ECM with Direct Link. You'd have a real Ripper! |

Glitch...Good suggestions! I have a list as well, but they are as insignificant as the suggestions I have for Buell as the aftermarket and owners will come up with all sorts of tricks. For me, a street tracker has alway been my favorite style bike since the early 1950's. Now, it is a fitting last sporting bike for me as I don't feel the need to ride on the edge anymore. Many thanks to Erik for all the fun the X1 provided and Kudos to HD for providing us with a reasonable facsimile of their Legacy. Damn, I couldn't be happier. |

Midknyte...Just been doing the low profile thing for the last few years. Haven't done anywhere near as much riding as I would have liked to, but that's what marriage and starting a new biz will do to you. Have been lurking the BWB, but pretty much have kept my posts to pushing (perhaps whining is a better word) for either Buell or Harley to make a street tracker. Really enjoyed the topics you have introduced on the BWB. Always pause for thought and reflection regardless of subject. Hopefully our paths will cross next year. I'll be the one with the street tracker, white leathers and cape. |

OK, I wasn't really worried about getting banned. Jeesh. I also like all bikes. I'm just starting to worry myself that with the XB I'm pushing a little (sometimes a lot) harder than I should on public roads, trying to find the bikes limits. I also like to see the engine, all of the engine, when I look at a bike. I should have known I was getting old when the Doctor ground the arthritic bone deposits out of my shoulder last year. I'm buying my wife a Suzuki Gz 250 tomorrow, surely I can drag the pegs on it. |
