After reading so many depressing news, I decided to go on a long ride alone - just me and my 12R. Left home (near Philly) around 10am, took Atlantic City Express to Brigantine Beach, then drove around Atlantic City for a little bit, before eating lunch in a little cafe. All this time I saw no other bikes! I guess the cold scared away most riders, but I was "toasty" with my winter gear. I made such a good decision buying the gear I did, but that's another story... After lunch decided to ride to Cape May, and I was so happy I did. The weather was amazing, the colors were just right, so I took the Parkway all the way to the end until Cape May appeared. There I had to answer some questions about my 12R to some strangers, but it was all cool. Its so amazing that people will actually stop to ask me stuff about the bike! I then took some back roads through some beautiful scenery, stopped again for some food, and decided that it was time to return home. Got home around 8pm, exhausted but thankful for a wonderful day well spent. As for my 12R, it performed flawlessly! Even though it is completely stock, it seems that the exhaust is becoming more "throaty", which I like, but I might be mistaken. Does the exhaust get louder as miles are added? Another positive thing is that gas mileage is increasing! Its now approaching 50+ miles per gallon, which I think is great. I just wish I had seen another Buell instead of just 1 Harley. I stopped next to him, we said "Hi", and that was it. Total mileage: 359 miles Worth factor: Priceless  | ||

Yes, the exhaust note will get a little louder (and I do mean little) and as the engine gains miles, it will loosen up and run smoother, cooler and gas mileage will incease. Good story. Glad you're enjoying your bike. (Message edited by Tunes on October 15, 2006) | ||

A great write-up, IMO that's what it's all about. I got 175 miles in on Saturday and as you say the right conditions this time of year are priceless. | ||

Your mileage will definitely come up. I recently got 67 MPG on a 300 mile highway trip out of my 05 XB12Scg. And if you like the exhaust sound, you're going to s**t when you get an aftermarket can on your ride. The first time I rode mine after installing an aftermarket muffler I was absolutely overjoyed at the improvement. More power too. | ||

I had a nice scoot earlier today as well, had Ortega Highway practically all to myself both ways. Bike was running sweet, just pwning the corners like it was on rails, no smokeys in my tiny mirror... Beautiful. Cheers. Salud. Whatever. | ||

Philip, that milage is pretty good - what speed were you going? Yes, I would like to purchase an aftermarket muffler, but it just seems too confusing. My mileage ranges from about 62 MPG romping on it all over town to a high of 68 MPG cruising at highway speed long distance. As for the mufflers, read the muffler report on American Sport Bike. There's a link to it on the top of their homepage. Based on the performance numbers, I chose the Buell race muffler. It's not super loud, but it's a ton better than stock. I like it. Plus you save rubber on the front because it's only intermittently in contact with the road around town. LOL! | ||

Oh and by the way, even though they've been discontinued, there are still plenty out there (though the price is creeping up). Check dealerships and ebay, and expect to pay near full retail for used equipment on ebay. | ||

My dealership says that there are non left. I have not been able to locate one for an 06 XB12R!!! If anyone finds one please email me and let me know. | ||

And to think the Buell Race Can was called a Fetal Pig, and everyone flocked for the loudest, and/or prettiest. I bought my bike with it and the Race ECM installed, little did I know they would become a rare item. | ||

A week or two back I saw a race kit on ebay for $1500 "Buy it Now". Isn't that crazy!? Surely noone bought it. Otherwise, I'm starting to see full kits on ebay averaging $800+ already. I am usually on ebay checking my items daily and will watch for the next race can available and will let you guys know. Be prepared to pay $400 to $500 bucks though.  Anyone have any news on why the Buell Race Mufflers were discontinued if they're really the top performer torque/horsepower ratio-wise? (American Sport Bike Report) | ||

Isn't the race kit made for higher rpm ranges? I want something that is useful in daily riding, between 3K and 5K rpm. As for reading the muffler report, I did, and I think they did an amazing job with the report. One concern I have is they mention the danger of running lean with any of the aftermarket mufflers. I have a '07 R and I don't want to risk damage to the engine. Am I being too cautious? Paul | ||

Check out KD Fab a sponcer for a drummer Ive had one sinces march o4 great pipe and kevin is great to work with. just went to vist while a friend got a SS drummer and he reset all tree of our TPS for free |
