For Buell coverage call Ronn at Riders Plus, 416-251-1447; 1-877-251-4504, extension 233. Buell is blacklisted with many companies in Canada. For my XB12S Kingsway has a 90% sportbike surcharge over the XB9 which practically doubles the premium. Riders Plus (a trade name for a subsidiary of Co-operators)was going to charge me $862/year compared to $2900/year with KIngsway because they classify Buells as cruisers. Ronn rides a City X and would be thrilled to hear from you. Only problem, if like me you have an at fault bike accident in the last 6 years you are SOL. |

Thanks for the info. It's good to see other Buell owners from T.O. on this site. |

I live in Nova Scotia and use Primmum (they are a Group Insurance company). The premium for my 12Ss is 1k per year, full coverage. Since I had not insured a bike for the previous 3 years before I bought the Buell (Aug 05), I had to pay 100%....my rates should drop 30% next year and the year after and settle out at 350-450 per year (2005 rate). Primmum is an exceptionally good company to deal with, very helpful. My Home and Auto carrier (The Personal) wouldn't even consider the Buell, actually the dude I talked with in T-dot, said he'd never heard of them!! Dan |

Thanks for the tip. I called Ronn and was quoted $690 per year for full coverage. Primmum was charging $1200 for the same coverage. |

I had good experience with Primmum for several pre-Buell years. When I bought my XB9S last year they asked if it was modified. It had the race kit so I said yes and they wouldn't cover it. I went to KIngsway and got coverage for about the same price. Kingsway has a bad reputation for the way it deals with claims but they paid out my theft claim this year no problem. On my way down to North Tonawanda to buy a replacement XB12S I called Kingsway and they told me my premium would double for the 12. That is $2900/year (I am 52 with 2 at faults, no tickets). So I called Primmum from the showroom and they quoted $1400. So I signed the deal. When I called to place coverage they asksed for the first time if it was imported from the USA. I said yes and they said they wouldn't cover an imported bike. I made a stink so they said they would consider it if I submitted an appraisal, registration and Canadian customs documents. So I went ahead with the deal and submitted the documents. They said they would need about 24 hours to process. I have now been waiting a week for an answer, calling almost daily and can't get an answer. The appraisal cost $300 and the remaining riding season has been reduced by about 50% during that time. Grrr. So get your insurance ducks lined up first before you buy. |

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE KINGSWAY INSURANCE. They F*CKED me over like you would not believe. When my Buell was stolen they backed out of my policy and cancelled on me two weeks later without paying. |

Here in Vancouver i use Megson and Fiztpatrick for my private it's about 800.00 for the year, but then we have to use ICBC for basic as well no choice in the matter and that is about 1440.00 for the year so i am paying 2240 for the year of insurance.. but if i wasn't able to use private for everything but basic it would be double the price from ICBC. |

I use Dominion Insurance Canada and I'm only paying $450 for a year's full coverage on my 03 9R. I don't know why it's so cheap but I'm glad. I've been with the company for years (cars & bikes) but I did have an at fault accident 3 1/2 yrs ago too. |

Thanks Ns. My car is with them but I think my broker told me they don't do bikes. I'll try again. Dominion is good to deal with. Are you in Ontario? My experience with Kingsway has been good but I have heard horror stories. |

Ns, just called my broker who says Dominion does not insure bikes. If you are in Ontario, would you mind giving me the name of your broker? |

Hey Littleone What kind of discount are you getting? I use full ICBC at about $2300 a year with my 43% discount. Does M&F have a safe rider discount? Thanks Freezer |

Tleighbell, I'm in Halifax. My broker is Cosman Insurance. I don't know why Dominion insures bikes here but not there. I've had a few insured under them. |

Freezerburn: I guess i am getting ripped off from ICBC then cause i have a 45% as far as i know. M&F insures me and my gear for way way less than ICBC. If i used ICBC for full it's double the price. |

No discounts with Megson but there prices are still better than ICBC with the 43%. About what you expect from the government when they are running an insurance business. |
