Hey Guys, Well I changed the engine front sprocket and primary chain from a 9 on my 12 and had fun with that, However Kind of now tired of that, will reinstalled the stock 12 gear, Now wondering has anyone change the rear drive pulleys to gain more cruising top end speed just for lowering the revs. for the highway?
Like either a larger front trans pulley or smaller rear pulley to increase the top end/cruising revs.
Like I lost about 500 rpms. with my first change, Now I`m thinking I wd. like to gain an extra 500 revs. over and above the stock 12?
Anyway to do this without going to chain drive? Anyone out there selling a product like this?
Thanks

Trojan has high-speed pulley available.
It's a kinda spendy unit.

Thanks 99,
I checked that out but it seems it uses the xb9 belt setup instead of the 12 belt ...

The belts are the same, unless you are talking about the 03 models, (all 03's are xb9)
that had a different pitch to the teeth. All 04+ belts and pulleys have the same pitch
and length no matter which model Buell it is.

Yup I knew that Diablobrain,
But I`m not about going to get that Trojan product as 99 has said if they use the 9 belt setup thats all...
I guess there is noway other than that,or the dreaded chain conversion :-)
Even then I`m not sure one can change much there with clearance plms on swing arm etc.etc..

There is probably an updated item available, just ask them.

Hey hogs do you still have the parts to convert a 12 to the 9 gearing? If so what do you want for them and will they fit my 06xb12r?

what do you mean the 9 belt? the final (belt) drive ratios on both the 9 and 12 are the same.
The only difference is on the 03 style and that belt is incompatible with any other XB.

The 9 and 12 have different primary drive ratios (chain drive behind the primary cover).

I think this is where confusion may be coming from.

Diablobrain ,
what am I missing here Trojan product uses the 9 setup meaning I cannot use that with a 12 belt so I wd. have to use 9 pulleys correct and Yes I know the primaries are different I have them on my 12, great for bottom end ...Needed I`m not sure as the 12 rocks anyways down there and I don`t like the High reving on the Highway anymore bounce of the rev. limiter to often now and it screams on the highway in General... Rather have it the other way now, Less revs. on the highway better fuel mileage , easier on the motor etc.etc.

If one NEVER goes on the highway is good, But I do both especially on group rides etc.etc.

And yes I wd. sell the gear I have But not until I change over and IF I go to the 90 inch kit, then I really don`t want the 9 setup , will have to go the other way for sure then...

except for the 03 models, all 12s and 9s use the same size and pitch belts and use the same size pulleys.

The Uly and the SS use a longer belt, but the same pulleys as the other models, except the 03s

So if you have an 04 and up 9 or 12 (that is not a Uly or SS) the belts and Pulleys are interchangable.

Is that a little more clear?

The gearing difference happens inside the primary, the front (rotor) sprocket is different between the 9 and 12 and the (3-row) chains are 2 different lengths.
Buell does this to keep the cost of the parts as low as possible by sharing common parts across as many models as they can.

You could also just talk to Matt at Trojan Horse. I'm sure he could clarify if the particular part is compatible with both 9 and 12 models.
