Hello there guys and gals! I'm looking into the new 07 XB12Ss to possibly keep my 12R company or (shhh! don't tell her!) replace it. I'm 6'4" and I like the idea of a wee bit more room and the more relaxed riding position. I have the standard stock Buell.com pictures but was hoping for some real world BWB modded pic's! Any info appreciated Thanks! Nate |

I am 5'10 and my Ss cramps my legs after an hour. It is 2" longer, not taller. It does give you the 1" lowered pegs but you can get the LSL billets from Al and put the lower pegs on yours (or I'll give you my stock Ss ones if you are ever in the bay area). I'm holding off on the touring seat because it is lower than stock by 1" and would make things that much worse. You can stretch out back on the seat farther than your R if you don't have a tailbag, of course... Don't get me wrong, I love my Ss (11,000 miles over the summer), but I got it for the extra gas in the frame and I'm glad I'm not over 6' on rides of longer than an hour. I am not of the opinion that the Long is the solution for taller riders. |

I'm just thinking overall it will be better. No clip-on's, 1" lower pegs, 2" longer wheelbase and more fuel like you said! I also want the naked/streetfighter look over the Faired look of my XB12R. I'd remove the lower chin fairing assembly an add a nice muffler and i'd also like to powdercoat the cases a crinkle black or something. Looking to go all out with this one and do the 1474cc kit.. http://www.revperf.com/xl.aspx with a healthy exhaust like the HillBilly or something with big primaries 48+mm and pretty TIG welds The 12 I have right now is stone stock and I just don't want to mod it, I want the naked look/more casual riding position of the XB12Ss. I also like the look/feel of the Motocross style handlebar setup's out there. Comes very natural to me after 15 years on dirt bikes. Keep giving me idea's guy's! I'm giving up the car for this new bike (promised the wife no more pulling engines out of our new cars when they have only 800 miles on them to install .50 Trim turbo setups LOL) I love Buell's! I agree about the upright position and motorcycle bars. Think I'll eventually get a Rizomo bar after i figure out what I want; less swept back I think. I can't imagine my riding mileage with clip-ons. I like the streetfighter look, too. I picked the Buell over the Monster (too much service required) and the Triumph (ugliest headlight on a cycle). While I don't like the fully faired look, I am putting a Uly shield on mine as the slightest wind (maybe 5 MPH) causes intense buffeting and my arms feel stretched on longer highway cruises. It is still fairly small and I think it fits the XB frame well. Try the sport seat to get 1" more height to the pegs. Mine is still stock in the engine department. I like the sound of the discontinued Buell Race Exhaust but I bought the bike for low end (so no box mods either) and I don't want a loud pipe. I'd go for the bigger engine though; maybe when this one wears out and it isn't my daily driver any more. Overall I haven't really had to do anything to the bike but there are some things I want to improve as I go. Good luck however you go. |

The newly released sport seat for the XB12Ss raises the seat a bit. Don't know by how much, but my legs are definitely less bent and there is a little more pressure on my hands. I like it. YMMV. |

Here is a homemade XB12S Long. It started life as an XB12S, but it has a long wheelbase Hal's chain conversion, and a R tail grafted on. There are one or two other mods listed in my profile.
I like the longer wheelbase a lot, and I think is almost a must for the larger rider. |

Nate - not sure if you saw my other post. Carolina Corner Carvers has several Buellers in your area. Come on over and say hello.

The Red "Hell Bender" bike, and the white XB were built by a board sponsor, HillBilly-Motors. (Message edited by brineusaf on September 20, 2006) |

Nate, if you look at an XB12S and an Ss, you will notice the knee cutout on the Ss is closer to the riders knees than the S. Several riders pointed out the fact that when they went from their S to the Ss, it was their knees touching the cutout that they noticed the most. If your R is an earlier model year, your knees are probably not touching the cutout. Check it out and tell me what you discover. These Buells (pics) are beautiful! |

Tunes my XB12R is an 05 and my knee's don't hit but they come really close. I'm waiting for the local dealer to get some 07's in for me to sit on. I'll make sure I check that out and see if they hit, that would get old real fast! Right now the only Buell they have on the floor is a Blast and i'm pretty sure that's not gonna be my next bike. hehe Nate |

Brineusaf.....WOW! that bike has some serious powder coating. I give it an A effort. Very sinister. That had to take some time and $$$$. I would love to go that black but there is no way I will have my bike down for that long. Mine is as black as it will get. |

After I get all of the good one's uploaded I'll post the link. Does anyone have a pic of a jet-hot sterling header with the polished race can attached? I want to see how close they match. |

Take a look at the CityX. The seat is a little taller, so you have a slightly longer reach to the pegs. I like the handlebars, too. That seat won't go on a long, but you can put it on a XB12S if you want the bigger engine. |

Mattwhite thats a good idea! Didn't know that about the seat! This forum is weird, can't figure out how to quote and the archive thing confuses me... anyway i'll look into the City X seat, they have one of them at the HD Dealer down the street! I definately want the 12 though, going for a 1474cc Jap bike killer! Nate |

Hellbender is really cool but it nolonger has the turbo on it. Its been ran without for over a year now to what I understand, there is pic's around of it being ridden without that are recent. On another note I know of a XB12S that is even hotter then the Hellbender but I have promised a magazine editor that sent me pics of it that I wouldn't unvail it. Man I'm itching to show this thing on this board. Due time...due time I will. |

Brineusaf, are the pictures from the Goetz-Motorsport Buell meeting? If yes, then the turbo is back on the Hellbender. Bads1, I can't wait to see the pics of that bike. Rene |
