Short story, replacement part is no longer adjustable for distance is this correct? Long story, after minor crash to right side the parts got replaced, after i left the shop the brake was slightly dragging, which i didn't notice until my front locked up, due to built-up heat. After talking to the tech guy he claimed replacement part is not adjustable, i have my doubts tho, due to front brake locking up. Good news i didn't crash, bad news is my front brake disk is all blue now.... |

I would check with Dave Stueve at Appleton HD, one of our sponsors, and supplier of OEM parts to many members of this board. His number is 920 757 1651. Off Mondays. Just guessing, I would be surprised if your tech was correct. |

I second the CRGs...they are a bit expensive but worth it to me. Along with the HeliBar top triple even an XB9R is pretty comfortable. |

I would put money on the reason for your problem being that the dealer has replaced your brake lever with one from an earlier tube frame model. These were not adjustable and look almost identical to the XB item and will physically fit on the XB master cylinder. However there is a small difference in the piece that contacts the master cylinder piston, and it WILL cause exactly the problem that you have described. You are extremely lucky not to have been thrown down the road by what appears to be an incompetent shop. Ask the dealer the part number of the part he supplied. The XB item is adjustable and the part number I have is N202.02A8 The Tube frame part number is not adjustable and the part number is 45190-96Y The replacement lever for the XB should be EXACTLY the same as the one that was there before! i think trojan is right. a few others have tried to use the tuber brake lever and had similar problems. the stock adjustable brake lever is still available so not sure what they were trying to pull on you. maybe they just wanted to get rid of an old instock part and thought it would work. |

Well, to their credit the dealer came through. They are replacing the brake disc, pads and lever with right one now. So its all good. |

Wonder how the rotor is after all that heat? |

I bought the CRG levers after a low side broke the clutch side. Get the shorty levers and you won't have to worry about breaking one in a low side or fall over.
