Post that info in the classifieds as well, somebody who has a XBR probably will trade you the bars and tree ect. You'll both get what you want for free/cheap. |

I have Crossroads Zero Degree bars. I love them. If you do a Firebolt swap then you'll have to get the upper triple tree and modify it. The ignition switch is on the front of the Firebolt upper tree. That needs to be cut out for an install on a Lightning front end.....unless you swap the entire Firebolt front end. |

It is possible to put Firebolt clip-ons on a Lightning but it takes some work. View entire thread here. |

I remember reading something on here about cross roads "clip-ons". They were used on a project bike from one of the sponsors...trojan i think. the base of the bars is narrow enough to use above the top triple tree on xbs models. I think these are the bars in question...but i would contact crossroads performance or trojan to be sure. http://www.crossroadsperformance.com/ecommerce/os/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=55&osCsid=7fd68db372a3050618a97ca3d9fbce15

Maybe Rizoma....not really sure. I've been relatively happy with them. Some getting use to......but they look soooo much better than stock. Can find them at Trojan-Horse. (Message edited by Brad_buell on September 15, 2006) |

If those aren't too expensive, and are rock solid I might consider them instead of the crossroads. |

Looks like they'll hit the "tank" before full lock. They're the Clubman bars I believe. |

They are a bar that Rich ( Trac95ker), has designed and built himself. If you ask real nicely, he just might make you a pair. I think they look very nice, Rich. I might suggest a bit more angle down. Keep up the good work!! |

Umm... woodcraft? All you need is the diameter of the fork. Mount them just under your triple trees at any angle you want. You may need a custom clutch cable as well. |

Do the Crossroads if you can afford them, i got the 7 degree drop, love them. $250 (approx) everyone i talked with who had them raved. Which is what convinced me to try them. the 7's are a little wider and lower (of course) than the 0 degree (pixed above) but not much. Simple bolt on install. Hey Brad, what mirrors? |

I made them. Right now I'm trying to make a jig for them. They dont hit the frame lock to lock. They are made from .109 wall DOM. Stock bars are made from .065 wall tubing. They are 1 piece, all welded together, non adjustable. |

i assume you have a tubing bender? are they mig or tig welded. look good. |

Lucky... how do you like the 7 degree's? I'm about 80% sure I am going to get a pair of crossroads, but I am not sure which ones to get. Rich... what are they going for? |

Brineusaf, there is a difference. With the 7 degree, you are a little more "inside the bike" or "on your arms". But the biggest difference to me is the width, your hands feel farther out there. i feel like i am steering more from the sides of my body and my shoulders with the 7's. With the 0 i was still a little more "on top" and found i would turn by extending my arms.(bend at the elbow) Lets say 0's are a full step change from the stock bars in the general direction of sport bike-ness. Then the 7's are another quarter-step toward race-tuck. I think most people would like the 0's better. there is a little more "sit up in the saddle" at stoplights, or when your back get's tired with the 0's. My right elbow doesn't straighten out fully, so i am more comfortable turning with more of my body anyway... for track-day i would go with the 7's, every bit of lower center of gravity is worth it. for a rider who likes 300+ mile days, 0's. hope that helps. |

What if you were 6'-4" and owned a XB9SX, and just did a lot of running around on your bike, not track days? I'm planning on a set maybe around X-mas. |

Thanks for the summary. I'll be buying new bars or crossroads here soon... when I make up my mind. Edit- I'm looking to improve handling. I ride at a "spirited pace" through some very twisty roads. (Message edited by brineusaf on September 19, 2006) |

Fravel, you might want to check the hand guards, the inside diameter of the crossroads is smaller. thicker tubing walls, and they might not fit. i think that most people will really like the 0 degrees. but for those really wanting to know, i think al at american sportbike sells the 0 degree replacement bars round $150(ish) I went with the angled set thinking i could always get the crash replacement 0 degrees if i didn't like the 7's. but i do. |

I haven't gotten an estimate for powder coating or chroming. I'm shooting for around 125.00 TO 150.00. I still have to make a jig. The bars will be made from .109 wall DOM and will be tig welded. |
