According to THIS it looks to be closer to a 10W. |

I'm pretty sure Blake is correct. It's 10W. |

I used the E type in my Firebolt forks after 10,000 mi and it's like having a new front end. The fork is very compliant over smaller bumps and it feels as though the front tyre isn't having to work so hard during cornering. I also noticed the fork dives a lot less under braking. Recommended. |

Thanks for the comments and cross reference sheet (Blake) I have a shelf full of Showa SStype 8 and it looks to be almost an exact match for the Type E Cheers! |

Traxxion uses 7 weight in XB forks for whatever that is worth. I couldn't find anyone who knew what Harley type E or Screaming Eagle was, although they thought Screaming Eagle was thicker than type E. |

when I sent type E to Blackstone labs it came out a 20w or around 7cst also = to 50 SUS at 210F go bobistheoilguy.com for a chart to see what I'm talking about. It is not so easy to compare suspension oils like motor oil. for example.... a company recomends there 20w oil for buell because they probly tested type E and found it to be a 20w at 210deg F but what about at room temperature or cold? that unnamed companys oil at room temperature was very thick compaired to Type E. So in other words the other companys oil thins out much faster with temperature and thickens up more with cold. funny thing about Type E is even putting it in the fridge it is still pretty light of an oil so Type E is actually a very good oil. High Viscosity index |

but back to the question of is a 7w ok..... depends on what temperature the manufacture rated there oil at. |
