Your sons have a much cooler dad than I do... I had to beg him for the keys to his 1973 AMC Hornet (with genuine faux denim interior).

Back to your post, and with constructive comment...

Take a ride back to your dealer and see if you can get a moment with their Buell tech in the service dept. It's not unlikely that there is a disconnect between the sales floor and the service department when it comes to rolling the bike out and handing it to you to ride home. Tell him your weight and ask him to spend a moment with you to set up the suspension at the very least. You can do this on your own per the manual, but he might have some knowledge and commentary to add per your riding style/habits.

If you have the funds, then next grab a pair of frame pucks (Buell OEM item) and a set of Dark Horse Moto axle sliders (sponsor here). A battery tender junior will suprisingly only set you back $20 at an HD shop and will be your friend. And also grab some gear to protect your own arse, easily done under 5 bills with prudent ebay'ing if in a pinch.

Also - keep an eye on your tire pressure. You'll find much debate on proper and or reccomended pressures, but know that running low will make the bike feel heavy in a turn. Running at pressure per the owners manual will have 'em feeling a hot butter knife. Another pound or two over that will feel like steak knives. * This is my opinion. Take it for whatever you consider it's worth.

As with any adjustments - fiddle with one parameter at a time and gradually so you know what change actually worked for the better and to avoid any catch 22's that might land you on your butt.

I am a constant and ongoing source of utter embarrasment to my children.

I refuse to stop kissing them goodnight and telling them I love them .... even at 25 and 27!

It's not WHAT you beg for . . it's that you have to beg. Beggin for our parents vehicles were most of our first encounters with "spin". For a great story, don't let me forget to tell you the time my Dad fell asleep watching a KC Chiefs game and woke up to find my Mom's bradn new Ford Falcon Sprint sporting a lift kit and HUGE rims and PolyGlas GT tires.

I was given 15 minutes to return it to stock or get crippled.

If you checked the oil after the bike sat for a while, you may mistakenly find the oil level indicated low on the dipstick, but it may be fine. Only check engine oil immediately after engine shutdown to avoid a false low reading as the oil in the tank may sometimes drain into the crankcase.

Also, did you check the oil with the bike on the sidestand or with it standing straight up and balanced? One of those methods is correct. : )

well i broke my left foot so i am out for 2 months..i am pissed i just got the bike and i have only had it for a month
