pfffttt... I'm jealous... well, maybe not, you have to show me pictures from the gap and I'll show you pictures of camels and sand, deal? woo hoo... they don't go quite as fast as buells though so you're probably not as interested and they don't handle quite as good. Have fun riding the dragon, and you better bring your whole bike back, frame pucks and all... Hmmm... never thought you'd break down and throw those on there. Have fun and stay safe! |

well looks like unless my plans fall apart We wondered what happened to y'all. It turned out to be a great day. New12r, Wags, and myself did 250 miles on Saturday. Maybe we'll be able to make it back up soon. Maybe the next week or so. |

No Rice, I'm heading up there from Atlanta Thursday morning. I should be up there around 3 in the afternoon. I'll be heading back to the ATL on Saturday morning. This is my first trip to the Dragon so I'm going to try to take it easy. I WILL be coming back with my bike in the same condition as when I leave Atlanta. (knocking on wood (my head) right now). |

It's just me. My plans for a trip to the beach fell through so I figured this was as good a time as any to make my first trip to the Dragon. |

1st trip == go slow pay LOTS of attention. Look out for morons crossing the line. After the Dragon, next trip try the Devil's Triangle. It's a bit more technical than the Dragon. |

Gotta' join that site to get in. If you could give a more specific general area it would be helpful to know if I could plan a day trip from the Gap area. Thanks Tank |

Okay, Head for Oak Ridge from Knoxville. Go through OR into Oliver Springs. Take 62 towards Wartburg. Turn on 116 (Petros/Brushy Mt Prison - do NOT pick up hitchhikers!!). Take 116 to Lake City (long route) or 330 (short route). This junction is a T. 330 goes back to Oliver Springs. 116 into Lake City, then take Old Dutch Valley (IIRC it's still 116). this comes back to 330 and back to OS. It's nasty. One of my co-workers does the Dragon every month or so. I told him about the DT. He rode it last week after work (it's about 5 miles from me ) and decided it was a bit more technical than he was ready to do quickly. Few hundred feet elevation change in less than 1/2 mile of asphalt with 3 or 4 hairpin turns. Lots of overlook. The short route is about 40 miles total. About 15-20 of it is straight 2 lane. It takes about 40 minutes for the ride. |

oh ya. it is in a dry county. so there is not much of a night life around there. you will have to drive a bit to get some adult beverages.. |

i noticed it was a dry county, we are already planning for that, lol. wont be hitting it to hard though as i would rather be nice and clear headed in the morning so i can give the roads a good pounding |

It was great last Thursday. You can get brew at Tapoco Lodge, down 129 from the crossraods. I heard. |

No problem. Always willing to help someone find a good place to ride. Not really any bad backroads around here. |

You can get brew at Tapoco Lodge, down 129 from the crossraods. You can also get brewskis at the two restaurants at Fontana Village, ~10 miles down 28 (another great road) from the Crossroads. |
