This may help.

I'll add another.
Hopping on another bike with a different rake and doing slow speed maneuvers.

Straddle your bike, make sure that there is a grease spot under your left foot. Don't forget to start your bike, or leave it off, just make sure you have the kickstand up, then ask your son to give you the digital camera, (actually he needs to throw it). As the camera is in the air, jump up to catch it.

Man, am I bummed. My XB12R's two incidents were already in the list, and neither is near as good a story as the ones you people are telling. All I did was grab too big a handful of front brake while turning into a space in a parking lot (during break-in, no less.) And then there's the time I was pushing it around in the garage while cleaning - pushing it from the right side, where I couldn't see that the stand had retracted, that is.

I'm not sure, but I think the counterman at the dealer is still laughing at me.

Oh, let me add this one. I have ridden my 12R in soft sand before, taking it extremely easy, because I was usually giving my 4 yr old (then 2) a ride. I never in my wildest expected this to happen. I was making a slow turn, done it numerous times, but this time the front tire gave, just shot right out from underneath me and the bike went down. Luckily my 2 yr old landed clear of the bike, upset about it falling he was crying "my bike, my bike". Evidently the front tire had found a big piece of "sidewalk chalk" buried in the sand and I caught it just right.

If you ride these (any two wheeler for that matter) confounded things long enough you'll drop it. I have heard stories of people riding for 40 years and never going down and never dropping a bike -- I don't know any of those folks, but wish I had their luck ; )

I've went 4 or 5 years and no problems and then out of nowhere you'll be parking at the local Choke 'n Puke and you'll kerplunk your scoot. Best thing you can do, IMHO, is leave it laying there, place your helmet on top, and then go eat. It'll be there when you get back.

I dropped my first street bike (Suzuki GS500) before I ever turned a wheel on it.

Dealer parks the bike outside the showroom with a slight incline down to the left. I get on, fire it up, click it into gear and let the clutch out. Not enough throttle, bike stalls, my feet are already on the pegs and over to the left we go. Almost saved it but it was too far over by the time I got my foot down. Nothing but a scratched up bar end.

Of course, the 30 or so people in the showroom all saw me do it .

I haven't dropped a Buell

...yet.

Heh. First trip outta' town, and I'm headed to a car show. I get there and find a parking spot really close to the cars on display. A couple of cuties are sitting in the car in front of me (I've noticed several people watching as I pull in... the Sunset Orange always grabs attention). I nonchalantly flip the kickstand down and proceed to exit, only to realize that the kickstand didn't fully deploy. By that time it's too late, and down she goes! Right in front of ALL those people (and more importantly, the Cuties). Needless to say, the adrenaline kicked in from sheer embarrassment, and I tossed the Ss back up like it was a Big Wheel!

Busted the left side driver foot peg AND the shifter clean off.

After 25 years of keeping the bikes on two wheels, I dropped two of my bikes this year by putting my foot in a hole while the bike was stopped. Broke the studs off the clutch center hub on the 996 and scratched up the lowers on that bike and an 86 GSXR. Thinking seriously about purchasing the frame pucks for my new XB12Ss even though I don't like the looks. Can't trust myself anymore.

Long ago, I was on my '76 CB750F1 and I rode out to the desert to a gypsy campsite to meet some associates. It was dark and the dirt under me was uneven and full of holes. As I reached the perimeter of the camp, I approached the guard post and put my foot down as I stopped to gain access and get directions. Foot went right into a hole and I fell over and took the guard with me. My leg was pinned under the bike and the guard had to lift it off of me. No damage, the dirt was fairly soft. Carbs had flooded from tipping over so I parked the bike by the gate and walked 3 miles into camp. When I returned to retrieve the bike, I found that somebody had helped themselves to all my gasoline. Luckily they were unable to drain the reserve and I made it back out to the highway, ran out of gas about a mile from the station. Walked the rest, bought a 1 gallon can, and the rest of the story is uneventful.

I guess that's my reward for doing business with vagabonds.

That's the closest I've come to crashing or "dropping" a bike, ever. Dirt bikes don't count.

A "gypsy camp" with guardposts? WTF??? Was that in Cali? Sounds like something out of a fantasy novel...!

Years ago when bell bottoms and choppers were in, I used to catch those damn pants on everything; kickstarter, foot pegs, oil tank cap, highway pegs, passenger pegs, exhaust pipe, end of swing-arm, kick-stand, small children, pets, and everything else. I can't count the number of times I either fell over with the bike on top of me or just tripping and/or falling down. He!!, I'd even catch the heel of my boot on the other pant leg and trip/fall. I finally stopped wearing those damn pants and the comedy stopped. This was back when lookin' cool was just as important as the look of the bike. Thank god the injuries weren't serious or permanent!

Anyone tried this? Saw others doing it and thought "Thats Cool". When checking air pressure on the rear tire reach down firmly grasp the bottom spoke and pull toward yourself while bike is on the kickstand in your dusty oily or highly polished garage. The object being to rotate the valve stem into the accessible range. Works most of the time. Just don't overshoot and try the reverse maneuver. I propelled the bike off the kickstand onto the left side. No damage I got the pucks after my first dustup.

Count me in on the kickstand one.

My first ride with the gf was almost 50 wonderful miles along PCH. I was so excited to ask her how it was, when we got in the garage, she hopped off and so did I, forgetting to put the kickstand down. Fortunately I grabbed the bike on the way down, thankfully it is 150 pounds lighter than my Sporty!

The first day I had my M2, I pulled out of my driveway, and while turning I hit some sand with my front wheel. I was going slow enough to save it, infact I wound up hopping over the side to hold it up.

I have two,(not on a Buell):

Drive down a narrow steep S.F ally behind a garbage truck, stop and assume: 1. That the truck driver sees you. 2. That the driver isn’t going to back up.

Believe her (the girl in the tight tank top and flip-flop sandals you just met at a party) when she says she knows how to ride, then hand her the keys.
