It looks like a pretty nice and powerfull bike, but it kind of bothers me that they call it "The American Sportbike." That is kind of funny considering that Erik Buell started Buell long before that bike was even a twinkle in the designers eye.

BTW, I don't like the headlights. Why make such a streamline looking motorcycle with those huge bug eyes?

I thought the Roehr was in some doubt? Haven't Highland pulled the plug on the engine supply deal sometime recently?

June 5th 2006
I e-mailed Walter earlier this Summer, asking about the engine.
Walter:

I would really like more information on your newest addition to the
Sport Bike market.
Could you please detail me on the under engine fuel tank?
Also I'd like information on the fuel fill, as I do track days, I
would be concerned about what would/might happen during a low side.
The bike looks spectacular. Congratulations!
I'd love to throw a leg over one.
Also I noticed HP ranges from 180 to 150 to 120, is this because you
have more than one engine to choose from?
ANY information you pass along to me will be greatly appreciated.

Ride Safe,
Dave

Dave,

Thanks for your interest in Roehr Motorcycles.
The bike you are refering to is the Rv1000, this bike was only a prototype
and is not planned for production.
However, we will be debuting a totally new sport bike this summer, the
engine in the new bike will have power potential of 180+ hp and will make a
great racer.
Stay tuned for a major press release soon.

Best Regards,

Walter Roehrich
Roehr Motorcycle Co.

ANother of the mass of manufacturers that are going to build an American sportbike soon.

I've been watching several of these, and they've been floundering since Indian fell.

I'll believe it when I see production motorcycles for sale to the public at a competitive price.
Not one off prototype boutique specials for $50k a pop with no infrastructure to back them.

We were in contact with Highland in Sweden for our 2005 racebikeplans. At that time the engine was not able to generate 115HP for a longer time.

One of our Raceteamengineers builded underenginetank 20 years ago to longer the distance in 24h LeMans Enduranceraces on the Yamaha TR 1 BoT Racebike.

In times of "non weight" Titanium exhaustsystems the under engine fueltank is the next step.

I wonder how this will work out.

Engh. Looks like a Ducati wearing a fish mask. Boooring. I think the Ninja 250 has more interesting lines, and it's not been updated in like 20 years.... ;P

I kinda like the look--yeah, even the "fish-face." The overall bike has a sort of "classic Ducati" look to me. But like Diablobrian, I don't think I'll be putting a deposit on one anytime soon...

You LIKE the fish-face?

Huh.

It's "expression" doesn't inspire so much confidence. Instead of looking like an angry, high-tech demon (like so many do), they chose the "Oh, crap! That curve looks awfully steep... should we be going this fast?" look.

Keep that phrase in mind, look at the pic again, and tell me I'm wrong.

Blegh, the headlights make it look like it belongs in the Jetson household. It looks quite bland. American sportbike hm... nah more like the Wal-Mart version of Japan Metric Inc.

i think its beautiful like a classic 916 ducati .. or the new triumph 675 .. but i am a professional designer, so what do *I* know?! ;P

but .. & its a BIG but .. i could care less abt the looks (splitting hairs - ok, ditch the lights - won't be using them) .. its the weight, liquid cooling &, power (revs) i am interested in!

hence the post in the first place .. it seemed too good to be true & i read abt it in MCN . which can fabricate from time to time.
