i want to know if the paint will stick to the muffler and not flake off if i use stove paint or header paint? any one try this? i want my muffler black. and i know the muffler gets hot. the powder coater here in town wont do it cause he said the heat will mess up powder coat. and he can get a hight temp stuff but its $100 for him to getthe product and in the heat here in cali he sugested waitign til it was cooler to order it cause the last batch he got the heat in shipping it activated it and was ruind b4 he could use it. if anyone has attempted using over the counter hight temp paint. what steps should i take to assure it wont come back off... thanks a bunch (Message edited by deflaytedwayz2 on August 03, 2006) |

i did it with mine. I cleaned it well and sanded it a little with some med/fine sand paper. I used regular high heat paint and had no issues at all. looks great! |

I took mine off when I put my header wrap on...since it was off and the wrap was/is black I decided the muffler should follow. I think I did 3 coats. |

I painted my Jardine. I have had good luck using the DFI Header Wrap Paint on mine. I painted it and put it in a old grill and cooked it. When it came out it was really hard shell. I have not had to do anything else to it yet. still looks good. It does say on the can it needs to be brought up to 400 deg. to cure. |
