I saw yesterday some grease coming out of the outside bearing. Should I be worried about this? Has never done this before. 11,300 miles on the bike. Buell's parts manual only shows the replacement of the whole assembly. Has anyone replaced just the bearings and what did you replace them with and were did you purchase them. Also, the color on mine is like the orange similar to the wheel bearings. I have seen some of the pulley's that had the black color. Does this matter? Thanks!!! |

Grease coming out of the bearing indicates a bad seal. Time for a new bearing. |

John, You want a 6203 series bearing like Dean said. Go to your local industrial supply / power transmission store. Here in the midwest it's IBT. www.ibtinc.com. Tell them you want a 6203 sealed bearing, the best quality they caring. Should cost $6 -$8 ea. You need two. |

John, The circle spring clip is a bit of a challenge. I used a small straight blade screw driver and small needle nose pliers and took my time with it. I used a large socket to hammer on to drive the bearings out of the pulley, while it was supported between a couple small 2 x 4's. After you have the bearings out drive a small screw driver between them and they should come apart and then push or drive the sleeves out from the ID of the bearings. Take your time with all the aluminum parts so as not to mare them up. If you know someone with a small bench arbor press then live gets even easier. :-) Good Luck |
