Loading a bike by yourself in and out of a truck is a real pain in the butt. I saw this produce, and it has intrigued me.

Anyone have any experience with one or something similar?

very cool, thanks!
Never have any worries while it is back there. No movement or anything?
Which brand do you use?

I have made it across the Cross Bronx expressway and the BQE in NYC and the bike has not fallen off yet.

I used to use one of these with my dirt bike. I used several tiedowns to hold the bike in place. One time one of the straps holding it down came loose. The slack let the others come loose. As I was leaving the dirt road and pulling onto the highway the bike fell off the carrier and I dragged if about ten feet before I could stop. I had to replace the handlebars and straighten the fork. Fortunately, I had not accelerated to highway speed or the damage would have been a lot worse.

I would not trust a carrier of this type for more than a few miles, and only on smooth roads.

The Versa Haul Sport Bike rack is great. Not only does it slide into a 2 inch receiver hitch, that particular model also has a 2 inch receiver hitch on the rear end of it. Not all Versa Haul models have this feature.

This feature allows you to also tow a LIGHT weight trailer behind the Rack. Alternately, you could slide a Receiver Mount bicycle rack, or some other Receiver Attachment, into the back of the Versa Haul.

When adding things to the Versa Rack Receiver, careful attention must be paid to the total "Tongue" weight. The rack limit is 600 pounds. The vehicle's capacity for supporting the rack may be LESS than the capacity of the rack.

The rack may also be mounted into any 2 inch receiver that is mounted to the front of a support vehicle. Draw-Tite/U-Haul, Reese, Valley and others make FRONT mounted receivers for many vehicles.

Front mounted receivers can serve several purposes. They can be an attachment point for LIGHT duty recovery situations. They can accept bike racks, motorcycle racks, winches and other attachments. They also provide excellent maneuverability when spotting trailers into or out of tight spots.

In view of the fact that the motorcycle may block the tail lights of the support vehicle, the accessory Tail Light Kit for the rack may be worthwhile. I think that it costs about $50, which is a bit pricey, but it is a simple bolt on addition to the rack. The light kit then simply plugs into your standard "Flat Four" trailer light connector on your support vehicle.

Have Fun!

Just wonder IF, One could install another one of these on the Front of say a 1987 dodge Roadtrex, 19 foot camper, If one was to have the frame worked done by a welder and installed a hitch up front to handle the carrier?? Same vechile in a different use say 4X4 carries a 7 and 1/2 foot snow plow so the weight should not be a plm??

i just bought one for my dirt bike last week from justhitchit.com. haven't fully tested yet but looks like it will do the job just fine... with a bike that only weighs ~200lb on it though.

mototote.com was the one i was looking to purchase for street/dirt duty. decided not to spend that much cash.
