So some half drunk idiot decided he did'nt like my bike parked in front of our store so he ran and booted it over. One of my employees saw this and got me, I ran out then the idiot wants to fight me! Somehow I kept my cool (must be getting old!) and got him calmed down to the point he was sitting on our steps while we phoned the cops. Told them there would be no problems, he can pay for the damage. police show up (all three cars) and he says no problem, he'll pay the damages... I say nope... arrest him. So now he has charges of vandalism, drunk in public, and resisting arrest! (I was hoping they'd Taze him!) As for the bike, faired well considering. Broken foot peg, small scratch on the tank from his shoe, and my hand guard mount plug needs to be replaced. All repairable. Funny, I was debating on removing the hand guards but they saved the brake lever. Axel sliders are a good thing too... Don |

You did the right thing, you could have kicked his ass, but you resisted and now he's going to really learn a lesson. I've found that drunks rarely learn anything from an asskicking when they're drunk. I commend you for being the bigger man. |

That sucks but I'm glad the damage was not more extensive. Every time I read about things like this I loose a little more faith in the civility of our society. I pick my bike up from DaveS on August 12th and I already have the frame pucks and hand guards ordered but I guess I need to look into the axel sliders. BTW; Great job on keeping a level head. |

I woulda FIRST kicked his ass and THEN called the cops. Guess I'm just a tiny man like that. (Message edited by buelltroll on July 30, 2006) |

And then he could've had Don668 arrested for assault and battery, and possibly sued him as well. No, Don668 did the right thing. |

Don668 did right, kicking the bike over is a misdemeanor, Don assaulting the drunk would be a felony. Don gets arrested, the drunk maybe gets some sobering up time or maybe arrested. Don668, Did the drunk say what is was about? Was it a H-D versus Buell thing? Or a anti rice rocket thing and he didn't realize that Buells are not rice rockets? Jack |

Jack, From what he was screaming at me, his drunk friend said two guys on motorcycles beat him up two days before. Saw my bike parked... figured it was the one. (no, it wasnt me by the way) What the cop said to me after the guy was mouthing off... "you should have hit him" In Canada you can use as much force you feel is necessary to subdue a criminal at the scene of a crime. But better the police took care of it. Don |

"I've found that drunks rarely learn anything from an asskicking when they're drunk." So true. I knew a guy that was a notorious belligerent drunk. One night at a bar he messed with the wrong guy's girl. The guy was a golden gloves boxer. He literally put the a$$ in a coma. A couple of months later, the drunk guy recovers and guess what? Still an A$$. You did the right thing, Don. Good luck, Bill |

you should have asked the police if you could have had a moment ALONE with this goof, then you could have had the best of both worlds, nice job of keeping your cool, hope you get some good $$$ and fix your bike with some cool stuff!!!! |

If you really have to kick a drunk's a$$ you should always sober him up first. That way he's more likely to pay attention & understand exactly why his a$$ is being kicked. In other words, how can the drunk learn a lesson if he doesn't remember it when he wakes up. Waking up in jail has a much better effect. You did right Don. That was definitely the smart thing to do. |

Not too much for costs. Right side Peg, plug for my handguard, a little polishing on the tank. Noticed driving it home a slight squeeling sound... rock guard slightly touching the rear sprocket so I just pulled that out a bit. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow just to have them look it over for something I may have missed, but it rides fine. I'll probably pay for the parts but since it was vandalism, to factor on my insurance. Don |
