On a ride the other night I was going around a corner and getting on the throttle pretty hard and the engine started missing. Since then I've replaced the plugs and wires and put in a half tank of different gas. It only happens when the engine is pretty warm and seems to happen alot more at higher rpms or under a load. I'm trying to sell the bike so this problem needs to be fixed asap. Any ideas? Thanks |

Check battery terminals and other connections especially grounds. I would consider looking at the coil and/or CPS as well. If engine light flashes momentarily while missing I would check ET lead for wear. |

I will look at those things as soon as I can. The engine light doesn't flash when this happens. The tach seems to go pretty crazy though. What is ET lead? |

i had the same thing happen and it was one of the wires by the battery terminal. it vibrated itself enough to barely wear through the coating on the wire. cutting out and missing, my bike only had 450 miles when it happened. i wrapped a small piece of electrical tape around the problem wire and zip tied the harness down away from the terminal, no problems since. brian |

ET is engine temperature. The sensor is in the center of the rear cylinder. Sometimes the lead is "banjo" tight which is not good. If the lead shorts to ground the ECM thinks the bike is overheating and it will go into skip spark mode and the engine light will flash. |
