I'm saying goodbye to my third buell. I just traded my xb12x that i bought 4 month ago for a 2006 triumph sprint. I'm not going to talk crap about the buell. I have had a 00 m2 cyclone and 02 x-1 lightning, and my latest uly. Each time I think I got a better buell. My opion is the uly is the best buell that they have made so far. That being said I've always wanted a little more power and less vibration. Last year i bought a 04 triumph daytona 955. What a great bike, and I still have it, but I hurt my back last year and I'm not able to ride it long. Thats when I got the uly, but after 4 months with it the vib and the ultra loud hair dryer fan has gotten to be to much for me. I think the buells are great bikes and one day the engine we match up with everything else that is great about them. Thanks for some interesting discussions.

Congrats on the purchase, make sure you come back to give ur your opinion on the sprint. I've been eyeing up the daytona myself. It's not riding a Buell that makes you a part of the family, it's that you ride. Best of Luck!

Try a Bar Snake. It helps a lot with the vibrating handlebars http://www.barsnake.com/

I'm sure it helps, but the rest of the bike shakes gauges mirror you all no what I'm talking about. Thanks for the tip, maybe if I get another buell one for the track or something to play with I can try it. Maybe I will get a cheap use one some day. I got $8,500 for my uly on trade that was the highest offer from anyone.

I have put 300 miles on it so far, and everything is great. This weekend I have a 500 mile or more trip to }}the cape may NJ. I will let you all know how it was.

Johnplank - Will you be taking the cape May - Lewes Ferry, from Lewes Delaware?

Also, have you notice any heat from the underseat exhaust on the ST. Did you get the hardcase saddlebags? If so what do you think of them?

After riding the uly heat does not bother me, but no I did not notice more than usual. Yes they gave me the hard bags free. They work great, but I will know more after using them this weekend. I don't know what all were going to do this weekend. I never been out there, do you have any suggestions for?

I had a chance to ride the 2006 ST at a Triumph demo, and I felt the heat on the Saddle not too long after riding a couple of miles. I thought for a bike like this, it was too much. i felt it came on sooner than my CityX and was more noticable. That was really the only complaint I had for the ST as I thought the engine and transmission were awesome. The seating position and handlebars were just fine also. Very pretty bike!

Well don't forget that with trade in it goes towards lowering the price of the bike you are buying, by that ammount so you then got that much off in paying taxes so it was another $425 off right?

If it had all the goodies I'd of been interested in that puppy. And I wasn't that far away either.

Interesting. That is one of things that I like about my Buell. It shakes at idle. I got sick of riding sewing machines and went to v twins for several reasons. Just goes to show that we are all different. Enjoy your sprint. Nice!!

Triumphs are good bikes. I have eyed the Speed Triple for a while now. If I can talk the wife into two bikes then I would be in bliss. Have fun on that wonderful British creation.

Good on you, enjoy the Triumph, it will be a great mount.

That is where I am right now, just enjoying the vibes, not expecting too much performance or smoothness.

The sporty engine is pure pleasure when you are just riding for the sheer enjoyment of being on the road.

The Sprint ST was on my short list but I decided to go with a Naked and choose the XB12Ss. I've ridden Harley's for years so the vibration in the handle bars will be nothing new to me. On the last sporster I had I filled the bars with No.7 bird shoot and it made a world of difference.

On a side note, if you do get the factory hard bags for the Sprint make sure the latches that secure the bags to the bike are working properly. On a rather spirited ride through the back roads my friend lost his right side bag at about 75 mph because the latch came loose. The dealer admitted this was a problem and warrantied the bag and replaced the latch which I thought was pretty decent.

Good luck with the back problem, after two lower back surgeries I feel your pain.

Well I have 800 miles on my sprint so far. It's been hot as he!! and other than my wife saying the back hand rail being hot, I had no problems with the heat. The 2006 have improved heat insulation and shielding. They said the 2005 had some good heat, but if your a buell rider than heat is not much of an issue. Thanks for the tip on the hard bags. I've notice when I tried them the first time you got to make sure there latches are secured. They work and look great I think.
