Firebolted that is
I traded the 2005 CityX, aka Piglet, in on a 2006 Black/Amber XB12R.

I have been riding more and more agressive lately and decided I wanted to be back in a crotch rocket riding position, but........I just couldnt give up my buell and go back to a *GASP* JAP BIKE. [used in a contraction way, so take your slur and shove it]

The 06 are being discounted and already had the transmission/clutch upgrade so I decided to save some money and get a bigger engine vs waiting on an 07. I wanted it now and am an impulse buyer. : )

Here are my thoughts
This thing is incredible.
It's like they took my body and designed a bike around it. Im 5'5" 140lbs. The bigger engine makes a gigantic difference. It is alot smoother and has scary power on tap always. I really liked my 9 a ton, but this engine is way nicer than the ones I rode at a demo day. I wonder if that is a result of some changes in 06???
The most notable difference I was able to tell is in the clutch and transmission. It's night and day. The 2005 CityX, shifted like a Harley. It was clunky, hard to put in neutral, you missed 1 -> 2 shifts and it was loud.
The 06 XB12R [which is tenatively nicknamed Satan] shifts like a japanese sportbike. Very smooth and precise. That alone, to me, was worth the money.
At speed, the aerodynamics are perfect. I have no pressure on my hands and it was like my chest was on a pillow of air. It was very comfortable. No wind buffeting and it feels rock solid and stable. The upright position of the CityX had me getting blown around alot, and it's weird, I find the R better for me. This in turn takes strain off me. Lastly, turning at speed is awesome. It inspires confidence. I can't wait to get this on a racetrack.

I loved Piglet, but I can see Satan speaking to me in my sleep.

Elff,

That firebolt is no doubt a beauty. Have fun on it. A friend of mine had a firebolt and that is what got my attention on Buell. I still remember the first time I rode his bike. I was never the same.

Finally saw another Firebolt in my small town (about 50K people). A blue one.

The secret is getting around : ).

Yeah, you gotta get 'em up to speed and form that "air pillow" for your chest to understand how they're supposed to feel.

I'm also short (5'4") and with the Helibars on (brings the bars back to where my short arms can reach 'em), it's like the bike was made for me.

Mine's only a lowly 9, but hey, I love it! (coulda had a 12, rode 'em both, chose the 9...).

This thing is incredible
and
Firebolts, the best kept secret in motorcycling today
So very, very true.
Yesterday evening was fantastic here in England; the weather is awesome and many people have gone away on holiday so it's pretty much as good as it gets for riding. I did 130 miles through the corners in a little over 2.5 hours and the ride was one of the best. I passed a few IL4s and a few IL4s passed me; saw an MV Senna ! On the road !

But hey my Firebolt did everything I wanted it to and right now I couldn't wish for a better bike. I am in motorcycling paradise

Wambo

I know how you feel. My CityX was very customized and was a good friend. I felt like a traitor.
