I bought my XB9S in May 2003. I went almost three years without getting pulled over. In the last four months or so, I've been pulled over three times, and each time I've gotten off with a verbal warning to "Slow it down." 1. April 06 Shawnee Mission Pkwy in Lenexa, KS Cop told me I was doing 55 in a 45, which isn't that big a deal on this particular road. He just checked my license/insurance to make sure everything was kosher and told me he didn't want to see me "turned into hamburger." 2. May 06 Hwy 2, Upper Peninsula, MI I was in the middle of a 600-mile day going from Flint, MI to Milwaukee, and was more concerned with making good time than following the speed limit. Highway Patrol pulled me over going 74 in a 55. I think she had every intention of writing me a ticket, but when she looked at my license she got a really confused look on her face, trying to figure out what a sport bike from Kansas City was doing in the UP. She looked even more confused when she asked me where I was going and I told her "Milwaukee." She just shook her head and told me to slow down. 3. Last Saturday, Hwy 71, south of Joplin, MO Speed limit it 70, I was doing about 80, but going up to 90 to pass groups of cars. State Trooper pulled me over, said he clocked me going 91. He looked at my license/insurance and when everything checked out, told me to just slow it down. I was stunned, because I was sure he was going to write me a ticket. As soon as I figure out what my secret to avoiding tickets is, I'll publish a book or DVD and get rich selling it on late-night infomercials!! |

Nateman, check out the KCLW in the stormfronts. I don't think I've ever seen you post over there. We ride in KC all of the time! |

Being polite and apologetic really does go a looooong way in this regard. That's what I've discovered, anyway. |

best thing to do when a cop is following you is toss empty whiskey bottles at him until he goes away. |

When I got caught doing 75 in a 55 on highway 2 in the UP she gave me 10 over ticket. That 1 mph must have done it. |

It's because you have a Buell. I got pulled over today, 90 in a 75. The cop was more interested in my bike! Verbal warning and I was on my way back to work. Phew.... |
