I went to the drag strip last night and was able to run a 12.233 at 110.68 mph. I was curious how this matches up to anyone who has run their bike. I'm on a 12R w/racing ECM, D&D, K&N. |

ive been wanting to know these numbers for a long time! Not bad numbers. I saw a guy at my local track on a 06 Ss like mine run an 11.2 at like 118. SOmething like that, its been awhile. Im going to try and take mine out this summer, but they require leathers all the way around if your under 12sec. |

here in OK it's done by MPH. 120 is your max without full leathers. and as you can see, I'm a ways away from 120. Plus your speed is taken at the end of the 1/4 mile, so if you go over 120, all you have to do is let off the throttle |

I'd recommend full leathers on the drag strip anyway. The barriers, usually chain link fencing. and concrete barriers, are very hard on your body without leathers. Most places will accept 2-piece suits with a full circumference zipper. I got just such a suit for <$600 from newenough.com on clearance. |

Where did you run Aeroe? Thunder Valley or TIR? I went to TV several weeks back and I could not launch this bike to save my life. 12.6 @ 109 was the best I could do, my 60' times were all in the 2.1-2.3 range. (Message edited by Nasty73z on July 15, 2006) |

Nasty- I was at thunder valley. My 60' times were between 1.9 and 2.1. I got lucky, there were a few guys out there with Busas that dragged every weekend. I got to picked their brains a little, which helped me out a lot. It's hell trying to keep the front tires down huh? |

Word. He has been my mechanic now for quite some time. He is very sick right now, I had a service appointment that turned crazy last Tuesday, he has been out sick since then. Sure hope he gets feelin better, for himsake and so I can get my bike fixed! He's great. I wrote my saga about it in the Quick board, titled "In the words of Dr. Dre...". Yeah I see those blacks guys out there all the time, seem like nice guys. I would ask them for lauching and shifting advice but they mostly just push a button. I think the 12.20's is about as good as I could do in the 1/4. I ran those times with a stock bike. I know have a drummer, ecm, filter, and a TFI unit. I ran the local 1/8 mile all the time and went from 8.30's in stock form to 7.60's with all of the mods and a couple 1.89' 60' times. I had to slip the clutch on take off really bad and short shift into second so I don't do a wheel stand and lose time. I don't live very close to a 1/4 mile. I might try and mad the 100 mile journey to Indy on a Thursday night street night and try my bike again. |

I've only taken it to the track 3 times, but my best so far on a 99 S3 is 11.98 @ 113.4 mph and a 1.93 60 foot unstrapped. I strapped it down and ran a "Streetfighter" race this past Saturday and though it was 95 deg. (hotter on the track I am sure) and humid, I still managed an 11.98 @ 110 with a 1.80 60 foot! So I'm expecting to get it down into 1.70 something 60 foot and 11.8's at 114 mph when the better fall weather comes around.... |

Best time I pulled on my XB9R (2003, at the time it had the complete Race Kit on it - can, filter, and ECM) was 12.200 @ 112.49MPH. My 60' and reaction times just plain stunk - launching properly was definitely my biggest problem. It was a lot of fun, but I doubt I'll ever go back again (on that bike, anyway). Anyone can go fast straight! |

Yeah but you can run classes and win money if you are consistent anyone know where to get a set of straps for the forks? |

Nope. Almost all of the kits out there are for bike with dual front brake calipers because they use the caliper bolts for mounting locations. One for the XB would have to use the hollow axle and run a bar or something through it then have the strap attach there. |

Strapped? Unstrapped?? it is like a tie down that bolts to the caliper mount on the lower fork tube and goes up and over the top triple tree. You cinch it down to take most of the travel out of the forks. This way, when you launch the forks don't extend and the weight doesn't shift as much so it makes the bike less wheelie prone allowing you to leave harder. It also lowers the CG a few inches and makes your bike look bada$$! |

'05 XB9SX with Buell race kit - 12.96 @ 106 As far as race leathers go. I don't think I'm going fast enough to really justify them. The most dangerous thing about race days at the dragstrip is the drive there on the interstate. Once you're there, all you have to do is go fast in a straight line...not really that difficult. "One you're there, all you have to do is go fast in a straight line...not really that difficult." Come drive my Camaro at the track! It gets a little tricky when you start going faster. These bikes are pretty slow comparitively. |

Once you're there, all you have to do is go fast in a straight line...not really that difficult. So I can assume that you are cutting sub 1.80 second 60 foot times? |

Nasty73z - that's why I said I wasn't going fast enough to justify leathers. I used to race my TransAm back in the day, and I know what you mean by it gets a little tricky. I raced at Milan Dragway, which because of it's age, features a 'speed bump' at about the 1/8 mile mark, and she stepped out on me more than once. I'm not saying that drag racing requires no skill overall...just at these speeds it's not very dangerous comparatively. As far as my 60' times, I'll have to check my slips when I get home, but I'll get back to ya on that. |

Leathers are still a good idea, even when not required, but I'll agree that the street is more dangerous than the track. 60' is where you can improve your times- 106 mph indicates that you should be running somewhere closer to 12.5's. |

We have test and tune nights here in NY..The track is about a half hour away from Albany..20 bucks, leather coat, gloves, and boots and full face helmet and you all set...i had a lot of fun doing it...i go back every once and awhile to see if i can improve |

Justifying leathers is easy. Things can, and do go wrong on the street or the strip. The first hour in the emergency room costs a bunch more than the leathers. Most insurance companies will not cover medical bills for injuries that happened while racing. They will deny the claim and it will be on you. Ask Vincent Haskovek. There are places you can get a suit for less than $400 on clearance, or a 2 piece for $325. http://www.newenough.com/product_group_closeout_leather.htm These are new suits and the guys at New Enough are easy to work with, and FAST! I'm just trying to save you guys some pain and suffering. If you're racing you're going fast enough to need leathers whether you reach some arbitrary ET or not. signed: "The Gear Pusher" |

Last year went once did 114 with ET under 12 Perilli Supercorsa tired. The bike is a stock XB12R 2004. This year Diablo Corsa. I went this year and played with the snorkel. Without snorkel 12.367 111.77 MPH with snorkel 12.379 108.78 Times in the 60 and 1/8 th mile didn't seem to vary much between with and with out although I think low midrange is weaker without the snorkel. |
