I believe 1/4 to 3/8th inch cold up to 1/2 inch hot. Refer to manual. Too tight is hard on shafts too loose and your bike surges at low speeds and puts a delay in the throttle feel. |

Field testing says 5/8-3/4 inch at the tight spot is better. a little loose is better than a little tight. |

What Diablobrian says and that is for a cold engine. Warmed up that will measure less, probably somewhere around the 1/2" or so that Rhun mentioned. But Rhun's cold measurement should be 3/4". For the record 5/8" = 16mm 1/2" = 13mm 3/4" = 19mm Jack |

Thanks for the clarification JBQ. I appreciate it. I made an assumption that I really shouldn't have. |

well i just got done changing my broken primary cover today.(BROKE RIGHT AT THE CLUTCH ARM) did the primary re-torque and had to re-adjust the chain. i must admit the 5/8-3/4 is the way to go. my bike never shifted so smooth. the dealership had it to tight as i would have trouble finding neutral and it shifted ruff. i'm impressed with the new feel of the transmission now!! DANG I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!! |
