An oncoming car that was half in my lane caused me to high side Sunday afternoon.

I sprained my ankle and took some road rash on my knee and lower back. Wish I had been wearing riding pants and boots because the jacket, helmet and gloves performed exactly as they should.

Several things were broken and scratched. I was able to find and order most of the parts. I'm going to try to get the scratches on the plastics filled and have them repainted. It is expensive though. Has anyone seen any black plastics for sale recently?

Several things broke, and even more got scratched up. It's going to be a fun project getting it back together. The tail section broke where it attaches to the sub-frame. Has anyone seen the tail cheaper than $300?

Should have bought the Dark Horse Moto swingarm sliders! ; )

Glad you're all right, man. Don't worry too much about nicks and scrapes...if you can ride it, it's fine. The cosmetic stuff gets fixed when it gets fixed.

Yeah, whats up with the idiot that was in your lane, did they stop at all ? Did anyone else stop to help you and were you able to ride the bike home or did the cops hook it ? Glad you made it out with only a few bumps and scratches.

Glad you're up and around! looks like your bike might be a candidate for the
line-x treatment, but it could have been far worse!

I'm glad you were wearing the gear you were. This stuff WILL save your life!

Mind telling us what gear you were wearing (brand etc.) and maybe pics of how it
held up to the abuse? I'm not trying to be morbid, just trying to collect info
about what works, and how well it works.

Axle sliders... axle sliders... axle sliders. Not that it would of helped much with the gravel, but it's worth the investment.

Good luck with repairs.

Alan - I'm just going to get it out of the way by saying THAT SUCKS, you were sooo excited to get home and ride it.

I hope the idiot in your lane at least stopped. Glad to hear you are ok.

An Idea..... since you have the blue decals on the frame... why not just fill the scratches in with a matching blue compound. Nothing like being original, just a suggestion; I think it would look neat maybe on the flyscreen and the swingarm.
How do you like those crossroads, I am thinking of purchasing some.?

All of my friends pulled up on me to make sure I was ok..About a minute later someone said, "hey where did that truck go?" He must have snuck off while our backs were turned. 2 of the bikes ran after him with no luck...

Eric- Yeah it's me...3 weeks on my new ride and this, right in the middle of summer...Guess I'm not taking it to the beach next week. I will pm you some of the things I still need...that so nice of you to offer.

Brian - I was wearing a Shoei RF-1000. That only suffered minor scratches...
-Joe Rocket Meteor 5.0. jacket. It took a serious slide, and believe it or not, I think with a rag and some soapy water it will look new again.
-Joe Rocket Atomic 2.0 gloves. They have a few tears I may need new ones.

Getting pants that zipper to the jacket is a must. My lower back got shredded. It wasn't too deep so it's healing pretty quickly.

I will post pictures of the gear tomorrow it's in a friend's garage, and I haven't cleaned it up yet.

Brine - I like the idea of filling in with some more blue accents, but...I'm going to grind them smooth and my dad has an oven for powder coating. So most of the bike is going to be black now.

One more thing....Has anyone ever came across a face for the instrument cluster? Maybe off a scrapped bike or something?

GRRRRR, the more often this happens the more I'm inclined to say if you are going down make sure your bike hits their car.

I REALLY hope the clown finds out just how bad things come around.

I keep thinking about zip on pants....

Here are some images of the gear as promised. Followed by a couple pics of the unprotected areas.

The jacket needs cleaned.

Gloves have a rip in the palm and one on outer edge of hand.

Shoei has some proof I wear it.

The sprained ankle was the most painful part. Boots may have helped prevent this.

Blue jeans protected my knee.

Again, if I had pants zipped to my jacket, this probably wouldn't have happened.

Alan, the joe rocket ballistic 5.0 pants have some very nice armor in them. I had a pair, somehow they got caught in the rear tire ( I have small legs, so maybe too baggy) and ripped completely off my body. They locked up the rear tire for 100+ feet at about 50-60 mph. When I wrestled it to a stop I saw what happened and proceeded to cut the pants out... I couldn't cut all of it, so I had to "drop the clutch" to get them to fling out. I wouldn't hesitate to wear them... maybe a little tighter ones on me though. I bought full leathers since then.

But yeah...I am planning to get those pants.

If your jacket has the option the full circumference zipper is the way to go.
A seamstress can install one even if your jacket doesn't have it.

I LOVE to see people gearing up properly for a ride.

I'm the (gear) pusher man!

If you cannot afford pants at the moment the might be a budget last resort. I bought these the day after my pants got ripped of to wear under my jeans until I got leathers. They costed like 20$ and you couldn't tell i was wearing them. I doubt they are as good as other products offered by ICON and such, but better than nothing.

Oh... and it wasn't nice to laugh. I was soo scared, could have been worse though... I could have not been wearing jeans underneath and would have had to ride home at autobahn speeds in my boxers.
