Since yesterday I have noticed a squeaking noise coming from my primary case on my XB. It only does it as I let out the clutch in any gear or as I shift. I can make it squeak if the bike is parked and I put it in any gear (not in neutral) and rock the bike forward and back it will squeak right as the primary chain gets tight. I dont want to think it but it sounds like a bad bearing behind the clutch. I have checked the primary chain tension on a regular basis and it has never been overtightened. I know that running the machine with an overtightened primary chain can cause premature failure of certain bearings. I have also checked the clutch adjustment and all is well. The engagement is just right with no slippage. Anyone have any ideas?? |

Sorry folks but I figured it out already. I got my brother to rock the bike while I listened and it turned out to be the Free-Spirits spring-loaded belt tensioner. It just needed some lubrication!!! I like it better when I can answer my own questions, ha ha!! I am sure relieved!!! |

I am sure relieved!!! I'll bet you are, there's nothing worse to make you paranoid than an unknown noise. |
