I love it when people have no clue what they are looking at. Me and my better half were cruising the beach area tonight around FT. Lauderdale. We came to a stoplight, some Italian guy leans out of his car window and asked "is that an Italian bike?" I say no, its a Buell. He gives me a dumbfounded look and I say Harley Davidson, its a Harley motor. We rode off and he was checking us both out all the way down the street. Funny, funny. |

Yup I have been asked several times if my bike is a Ducati. They mean well. |

I actually had a guy pull up next to me one day, in a slammed ghetto impala, and ask me if it was the new kawasaki, with the BUELL American Motorcycles sticker not 24 inches from his face!!!! Some people's kids.............. Bruce |

i tell them, swingarm by brembo (gets a raised eyebrow), frame by verlicchi - make aprilia mille (gets satisfed nod) .. brakes by nissin & assorted electronics by itaian & other suppliers .. motor & design are american, harley racer/employee turned innovator. taking the fairing off xb12r .. discovered blinker module is spanish, by gilera (?sp). anyway, its a lumpy vtwin harley based motor ina chassis who cares? .. its falling apart for me & yet has all the character of a war-torn grandpa. |

I've posted this elsewhere, but it seems like the right time and place to post it again...

Is that a (you pick the brand)? The correct response is: Why yes, yes it is, thank you (insert big toothy, if you got em, grin). It's a beaut aint it? Motor away rapidly. You almost never win an argument with stupid people and it's the school boards job to educate them, not mine. |

I like to say mine is a prototype when they ask if it's Ducati. "This is the 2008 prototype dude, I totally work for Ducati and they let me bring it over here to ride around as I please." |

I live in Washington, DC. I took my '03 XB9S to the inspection station last week and the guys who worked at the station (alot a whom ride jap race bikes) did not know what to make of my bike. At first they thought it was a modified Ducati but then they just gave up. Two of the guys asked me if they could sit on it while I was waiting for my paperwork. DC doesn't even have Buell in their computer system. For make and model my paperwork says "other' and "other". |

I still amazed at how many people give up and ask whats dat. When there is a huge logo on the airbox, or "gas tank" to them. |

After the third time I say "B-u-e-l-l" slowly, they repeat it as if they have a mouth-full of peanut butter. Half the time I wind up telling 'em it's a Harley sportbike. At that point their head starts spinning and pea soup is spraying around the room. |

I get a lot of people asking if "that's the new Harley" and I reply "well, Kinda... It's a Buell. Harley is more of the engine supplier as far as the bike itself is concerned." |

hey Pwnzor, the next time someone asks if it's a Ducati and you tell them it's the prototype, also clue them in to the fact that BUELL means "top secret" in Italian, and that's the reason it's written on the "gas tank" in such big letters. |

Tell them, "no, è un motociclo americano voi stupido parte di immondizia." You had better be bigger than they are if you are in Italy, too. |
