"Holy moly crap dudes! I've never seen so many post on one thread in my life! hahahaha"

LOL : ). Do a search for "Counter steer", "ZTL" or "unsprung Mass" ;). I think one of them was well over 500 posts in four or five days : ).

Wow! M1 you watch these threads as much as I do, except no doubt you've been for much much longer haha! I just found this forum a week or so ago... I'm working on funds for my first Buell myself, just love the way they ride, so much potential in those machines... Badweb rules!

Talk to Dave : ). Also there are great deals out there if you look hard enough... A friend of mine just picked up an '05 12SCG w/ 121 miles for $6300 from a private party. He left for NY city and asked me to finish breaking it in for him and that sort of thing... 750 miles on it now and it will get an oil change before it's started again : ). I've only had it for a week : ). It already has the low seat as well (maybe the SCG comes with that?).

I'm usually a strict private-party used bike buyer kinda dude, but the Buell has got me a little more passionate for some reason... Hmmm I wonder why? hehehe... I'm going for a brand new to myself '06 or the '07 depending on what happens when they come out at my local dealers next month... Either way, I'll get a sick deal on a discounted brand new '06 which many of the dealers out here will have plenty of (seeing as how they still have brand new '05 models for sale at killer prices cuz having probs movin em), or depending on whats been done to the '07, we'll just have to see... Either way, waiting has been a aching pain in the a** for as long as I can care to remember now (which I must admit isn't long for me, what with all the pot I smoked in my younger years), how long is that anyways... hmmmmmmm?

Right, the radiators are hidden behind a wall of plastic. I forgot about that.

I agree though, the Japan Inc bikes are good machines. I am countering/disagreeing with the idea previously offered here that more peak HP makes them superior and justifies all the poo-pooing of the Buell naysayers. Each configuration has its advantages. Like you, I happen to prefer the Buell advantages much more. What I also see is that a lot of folks have no clue about what is truly high tech in a motorcycle or any other kind of engine. They use HP/cc as the only measure and that is so sad and so incredibly ignorant. Japan Inc has done a fine job in selling their marketing speal in that regard. Just take a look at the ignorant opinions of the Buell naysayers expressed in the August Cycle World's Hotshots letters from readers.

The general consensus is that the Buell XBRR is not right solely due to its displacement advantage. Ignorance is rampant in the motorcycle markeplace. It would be interesting to post up the CCS rulebook's class displacement limits and see what the ignorant think of them. CCS makes accomodations for all the different configurations of engines out there. They don't limit a series to a single displacement; they let all willing competitors compete on a level field all things considered.

AMA Pro Racing is FINALLY catching up on that idea. Heck, even Formula 1 cars are afforded different displacement limits based upon the configuration of their engine.

Now you've done it. Got me on a rant again. :/ : )

Yeah, big point on the sound issue. That one point alone is enough to keep me off a 600cc IL4. The IL4 literbikes aren't so bad. Why on Earth the Japan Inc folks don't come out with a 360 degree big bang setup for their 600cc and literbike repliracers is beyond me. If you ever hear the Kawasaki MotoGP bike growl out a tune you'll know what I'm talking about. Wicked cool sounding machine due to the big bang configuration of its IL4 engine.

I hear ya man! ... Oh, and yes, I agree on the displacement issue, in my opinion, for street bikes they really should start looking at things in comparison by fuel consumption ratios only... You've got a two cylinder big twin machine rolling at lower rpms, burning less fuel to make the same power with more TORQUE and a machine with 4 smaller cylinders pumping away like a freaking hummingbird on coke burning the same amount of fuel with the same power and a LOT LESS TORQUE... When ya break it down to combustion, and the science of these machines, we're looking at relatively similar consumption for two totally different displacements... Based on fuel consumption alone they should be compared equally, in which case of course the Buell FREAGKING RULES DAMNIT! MWA HAHAHAH!

Oh and BTW, I own a 600rr as my everyday mode of tansportation and have been riding 4cyl Jap bikes for years, and yes, I am more in love with the Buell than my current baby of going on 3 years now... Infacuation? I think not, it's simple reasoning - She moans a lot louder (never been into screamers myself), and hits hard even at low RPM's, where you'd least expect it. Ouch! Damn she's fine! Back that thing up big Mama!

Then it wouldn't be legal to use in Moto-GP... So sad... They NEED to drop that rule so we can have BRILLIANT V4's and such... The Bastards.

Sure I'll dust the crap outa a xb12 on the freeway anyday with my 600rr, but flickin that toque'y little vtwin machine through the twisties gives a whole new meaning to them than my 600 does... And what the hell is more pleasing than putting in a few good hours carving corners? Surely not taking some geek on his $10k 'sportbike' on straight-a-way thats for damn sure!

Yet another kid with deep pockets and rich-boy tastes testifying for the IL4 HP and top speed, sh**, my dead grandma could make one of those things go 0-60 in 2.3 seconds, but it takes a real rider to acknowledge a machine like the xbs/r for it's superior handling and the cherry on top known to us that all that FREAGIN BEAUTIFUL TORQUE BABY! Aprilia, sh**, let some Badwebber kick that overpriced bucket of bolts over and you'll be forkin out $10k just for a few scratches... WWWEEEEAAAAKKKK A** NANCY BOY BIKE!

$10K for a sick a** highly flickable road machine? Or $20k for a future filled with high priced maintenance and a machine that barely compares to a $10k RC51, in that case, yes, the JAP bike is far superior Nancy Boy!

"A classic case of one being frustrated by having 600’s blow your doors off regularly!"

Hey... He's back : ).

LOL : )... I've never been passed by a 600 anywhere but a straight line (and a pretty long one at that) in 23K miles unless I let him around because I wasn't interested in running that day (and it's been once, just for the record... I remember it well because I caught crap for it later). I've watched plenty try to keep up and then all of a sudden drop out of my mirrors because they scared themselves trying though. I'm only speaking the truth. I'm sorry if you refuse to believe me.

You only ride in straight lines don't you? It's really a shame for us to hear somone so simple minded bash Buells just because they haven't been able to really push a motorcycle to it's edge (and no, I don't mean scrubbing chicken strips, that's still grip... I'm talkng about handling... what happens AFTER grip : ))...

"I'll take my Buell over any Japanese motorcycle. For me it is a vastly superior motorcycle."

Same here Blake...

"At least he has the sense to realize the Aprilia Factory for the near perfect bike it is! "

LOL : ). The Buell has done "quite well" in tests against the RSVR... Even come out on top a time or two. What does that mean to you (assuming you'll accept the fact)? To me it means that both bikes are GREAT bikes. I've chased RSVR's through the canyons... They've chased me : ). They're alright.

For the price difference I can have as much power (reliably) as an RSVR and I have a superior handling platform to start from... I'm pretty sure the XB is lighter too (correct me if I'm wrong please) so I don't even NEED quite as much power... to keep up in a straight line... Whatever : ).

I don't get one point though... Many/most of us accept the fact that both the XB AND the RSVR are great bikes... You bash us for saying anything but "praise be and glory to" an RSVR but then you turn around and spit on an XB...

Hypocrisy is certainly not a positive character trait my friend ;).

Blake, my guess would be vibration and durability. Probably more/cyclical crank load with the big bang, which is fine with a bike that gets rebuilt regularly. Also, would probably take a lot of counterbalance weight to quell the vibes enough for a street machine.

It would be cool though, the advantages of a twin with the power of a four. That Kawi sounded awesome last year at Laguna.

And, make a 350 CI CVCC engine and it will not only pull an RV & Jeep faster farther and better, but it will probably get 20 MPG while doing so.

Only problem being my 1994 Chevy Silverado automatic 350 V8 with an aluminum commercial camper shell, all my tools, and 2 ladders on the ladder racks was getting 19mpg with the AC running full blast in the mountains.

Conversly, the Nissan toy truck with a 5 speed manual transmission, half the tools was getting 18mpg.

Yeah, the Jap motors are much more efficient. Hmm, 2x the cab room, 3x the acceleration, 10x the general creature comforts, 3x the cargo capacity, covered storage, yeah, the old GM pushrod 350 really suckes as a general use motor.

BTW, the US cars were getting over 25mpg in the mid-60's with real live 5 person room in functionally sized cars.

it will do what I want it to without all the modifications that violate EPA, CARB and perhaps the factory warranty,

Just so you know, EPA and CARB aren't concerned with actually doing anything to protect/help the enviroment (HOT ROD mag proved that back in the late 80's with a Camero).

What are you considering that will violate the warrenty?
