Hey guys, I have come to trust your advice. I'm relatively new to the game. Tonight when I started up the bike to come home there was a high pitched noise. It was constant...didn't seem to increase or decrease with the rpms. The bike seemed ok otherwise (and i needed it to get home) so I rode it home. It seemed to get quieter by the time I got home. I only noticed it when stopped...but I think that was because it was drained out by the race pipe...man I love that sound. Anyway, any clues as to what this could be. Is it anything to worry about? Is there a way that I could check to make sure of the problem. You know, if it is whatever then do this and it should that. Thanks!

Could have been the fuel pump just doing it's job. They tend to be noisy.

Agree with Glitch. If you are close to empty the pump tends to get louder. Nothing to be concerned about. If it really starts to bug you, you could always get a '05-newer pump and replace the old one.

Yeah what they said.
I usually know when I'm low on fuel before the light comes on because my bike will start humming.

When she's full I don't hear much out of her.

will be noisier on a low tank of gas. go fill up and see if that deadens it a bit. but don't worry about it.

That's funny, I just happened to notice the pump noise yesterday on my way home from work. My tank was near empty, and come to think of it, I couldn't hear it after I filled up. I thought something was wrong... now I feel better.
