Just installed new brake pads on the rear on my 05 xb9sx.....They work fine but now my rotor looks like it is getting burned up, it is turning a real golden brown color, it seems to be working fine, and i can see a gap when i look thru it but it is kind of getting scarred up a bit, nothing drastic but it is enough to worry me. Any input or advice would help. I will take a few pics of it tomorrow and post them up. This cant be normal can it? Thanks - Sinatra

It sounds like it's dragging a bit from your description.

Did you bed the pads in at all? Might be a combination of dragging and glazing?

Do a bleed to get your pads set right. New pads put pressure and the rotor b/c it's thicker.

I just changed mine as well and was doing the same thing. Make sure that when you take the old pad out to push the piston all the way back in. It was rubbing when I put back together. After about a 20 min ride it was fine and no dragging on the rotor. I believe that it just has to get seated.
