I posted over in the KV a week ago, and nobody has responded. I have a fuel leak coming from the nut / hose on the plate thats at the end of the frame on the left hand side behind the heel guard. I'm still unpacking from a move and havent found my service manual yet so I'm not even sure if the plate is the fuel pump? Any help?

That plate is the fuel pump--I don't have to check the manual for that. The hose has a banjo fitting--if that's what's leaking, you could probably tighten it very gently. If it's leaking from the hose/fitting junction, you might need to seal that up somehow (clamp? cut a bit off the hose end and re-assemble? replace the whole hose?). Sorry, I have no idea of the correct torque for that nut, but a gentle tightening should do it. If not, perhaps the washers need replacing... |

That is definitely the fuel pump. Mine began leaking shortly after I got the bike, and I was not able to get it to stop. I gently tightened the four allen head bolts that hold the pump in place along with the banjo bolt. The whole pump was eventually replaced under warranty, and that took care of the problem. If it won't stop leaking after you tighten everything, a new pump might be in order. |
