What year bike? The speedo sensor is very sensitive to power surges, and I believe the later year models have an updated sensor with an inline power filter, but I may be mistaken on this. The speedo on my old Cyclone went out on me three times while I owned it. I was told the problem was fixed in the XB-series, but never trickled down to the tube-framed models. |

there's a replacement/update for the 03 models. Call Buell cust svc and they should be able to tell you part numbers etc. When mine blew for the third time I called cust svc and they sent the replacement parts to my local dealer and picked up the labor charge for installing it. The bike was well out of warranty. I might have just been lucky to get someone nice on the phone, but it's worth a call... |

Straight from the top of the Knowledge Vault... Updated (5 volt regulated) speedo sensor part number: 74402-95B (part revised 04/11/2004). Should be around $75. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/3594.html?1152042320 I recently had to replace mine and as I recall it cost around $50 for the new part. Takes about 15 mins to swap them out. |
