my steering head bearings are loose & i have been too busy to get near them in last week .. i am doing track again tomorrow (every week). they just knock a little & make breaking a chattering affair - bike track ok & i feel moderately safe (only the unknown being in the back of my mind) .. anyway, dealership too busy chroming up geezerglides to see my little buell (the steering heads they have TWICE missed noticing on their 4 mile test rides). i will do it myself very very soon, but i am safe to last a few more rides, yeah? paul. |

Paul, if you have the service manual you'll see it only takes about five or ten minutes to do. |

Do it now, no reason to wait. As Glitch said, it takes almost no time at all. |

Paul, Riding the bike with the steering bearings loose will subject them to impact loads which can dent the rollers or races, in which case you will get noticeable "notchiness" in the steering and you will have to change them. Adjust them to avoid the problem. |

I wouldn't want to ride on the track with loose bearings...it's an easy fix, I do it every couple of months. Just be VERY careful when tightening the stem pinch bolt on the top triple clamp...don't even approach the recommended torque...my dealer and I have each broke a triple clamp on the bike now! |

What Whodom said exactly. Do it now. Mine loosened up from too many bad wheelies and it took 15 minutes to correct. |
