Hi guys, A while back I put on the race ECM, K&N filter, XB12 airbox cover and Jardine exhaust on my 2003 XB9S. The bike runs pretty good but pops on decel somewhat, not a big deal really, it's more of a gurgling than a popping sound, not at all like on my cruisers that downright BACKFIRE on decel when not setup right. Anyway, I traded the race exhaust that came with my race kit to a guy for his Techlusion box (and some cash) thinking I could dial in my bike and get rid of the popping (since adding a PCIII to or rejetting my cruisers is how I got rid of the popping on them in the past). I haven't attempted to install the Techlusion yet. Now today I'm reading that the TPS needs to be reset when swapping out the ECM and that I need a VDSTS to do it myself (the closest Buell dealer is over 100 miles away). So my questions are: A: If the bike runs pretty good now do I really NEED to reset the TPS or did I get lucky? B: Will adding my Techlusion box help? C: What does a VDSTS cost and where do I get one (Daves)? Also, what else will it do for me besides enable me to recalibrate my TPS? TIA! |

You can get it at american sport bike, look in the air fuel area. It's possible you got lucky but should probably get it checked to see if it's nominal. Any tuning you do with the techlusion would just be patching if the TPS is off to begin with. Better to start w/ everything correctly calibrated from the start. |
