Loud pipes are good for tickets............. THEY DO NOT SAVE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact they can cause an accident. Get in a car sometime and roll the window down then ignore your rearview mirror and wait for a big ass straight piped Harley to go by splitting lanes. You will notice you do not hear them until they are pretty much next to you. I have seen knee jerk reactions and cars swerve becasue of being scared by the noise of a loud pipe. Heck I have even been startled when cageing it. |

hear we go .. this ain't a post called *loud pipes save lives!* .. its merely stating how loud the pipes on race bikes are - even at lower racing levels. also, there was another post called *PIPES!* that i was kinda playing w/. & who gives a fack abt r6 rev counters .. this has been DONE to death in so many posts abt so many bikes .. yadda yadda. r6's are cool & go like stink around a race track & thats all that matters .. if i wanted a geezerglide, i'd GET a geezerglide WITH quiet pipes. harley pipes are ass & done to death .. point of fact, i wish the buell was a DIFFERENT noise .. all buell pipes make buells sound like harleys .. so much for differentiating the brand. the bike rocks .. in the same way a screaming race I4 rocks |

Nothing is louder that MotoGP bikes! Period. I witnessed the start of MotoGp at Laguna Seca up in the start grandstands last year and, I'm tellin' ya, the sound level was so raspy and intense, it hurt -- Like a jet fighter taking off with full afterburners. Going back again, though. Luv them bikes and that awesome sound! |

One Bike week in Daytona pretty much satisfies your need to ever hear a drag piped harley again in this go round. A Buell does not sound like a strait pipe, drag pipe sportster peroid. (Message edited by sokota on July 03, 2006) |

The MotoGP bikes are all "Big Bang" tuned, so even though they have stratospheric redlines, they all SOUND like twins rather than fours. And they are ear shattering! The AMA Superbikes sounded like street bikes in comparison. As I tell my friends (in a fake Austrian accent): I like my sport bikes to bellow like a man, not scream like a little girl... |

Who wants a Buick in a canyon? I'm 5'8" and I actually have to scoot back to touch the rear of the seat. I could get rid of 2" and be OK. As far as being hunched over and tucked in... That's the name of the game. It shouldn't affect your performance at all. Asthmatic Harley? Maybe stock they're a bit quiet I suppose. I guess it's just a generation "Y" thing... You guys like the high rev sound, I like the deep scream sound. Ever hear a Drummer or Force at 140? Brilliant. Better than an IL4 if you ask me... Just MO though. |

Just like the wiggers who throw on those big fat mufflers on their Civics. I don't see the point but to each their own. |

When I hear a Buell ride by me on a street, whether it be a 9 or a 12, they have a sound between a Ducati and a Harley... and I lean more towards a Ducati sound than a Harley sound. I can hear the difference. But, I digress. Buell's have a unique sound... in my opinion. The absolute loudest racing bike I have ever heard, either ripping down the straights or standing next to it is a Ducati single with a straight pipe. The 250's and 350's in particular. I'm a vintage guy so I go to vintage races! |

My stock Buell is quiet, but it sounds great when it's working. It sounds like a small harley when it's idling or cruising at low rpm, hiding it's real character. Open up the throttle coming through a corner, use that mid range torque, and it releases a beautiful roar. All the cruisers and race reps nearby get whiplash. And I'm just a slow newbee. A fast Buell rider must really get attention. |

The Beson/rhinehart race pipe for the Buells is ridiculously loud too. I couldn't imagine trying to use that on the street, it'd be an open invitation for a ticket. They even holler about how loud they are at some race tracks around the country! I look forward to the next generation of Buell technology pipes the XBRR uses. Those are relatively quiet and still flow enough volume to handle 150+ hp motors. Sign me up! Loud for the sake of loud is not my thing. I have a Jardine on my bike, but if it did not perform it would be gone. My ideal pipe would sound like the "race pipe", but it would perform like the drummer ss/micron/xbrr pipe. It's my pipe dream bad pun, I know...I couldn't help it. |

pipe dream .. haha .. yup .. i have a LOT of them. new to this network (ok, prolly not) .. k5/k6 gsx-r1000 w/ carbon akrapovic can is a nice sounding deep roaring thing, until u wring its neck.. the yam r1 w/ full titanium akrap.. or hindle sounds definitely mean. i guess being around all these portbike racers is bad for my buell health?! |

I just installed the D&D and yes it is loud, but it sounds better and deeper than any straight piped Harley I ever heard. I think the Buell has a unique sound like some of you others out there. I like it. Greg |
