You'll never get all the oil out by draining via the plug so if you assume that the primary requires 1 qt, and you fill it 1 qt without watching the clutch diaphram, you might have overfilled it. The oil level should be right at the bottom of the clutch diaphragm, if you have a service manual you'll see the picture and know what I mean. If not, pull the clutch inspection cover off and if the oil level is past the bottom of what looks like gear teeth then you overfilled it, and you might start missing shifts or getting false neutral lights, which is embarrassing. If it is in fact overfilled just get a turkey baster and suck a little bit out at a time until you reach the proper level. I put the kick stand on a 2x4 so it's close to level when she drains. I must be getting all or very close to all the old oil out because one full quart brings it right to the correct level. I do fill it through the clutch lever though as I really do like to visually verify everything. On Edit: Too many beers tonight! I meant to say I fill it through the clutch inspection opening, not the lever! Doh!
