does anybody here have them i want to do something to get rid of those huge frame rails that stick out like a sore thumb its either the carbon fiber frame rails or line-x anybody tried that. id like to polish the frame but i dont want to take the bike down to the frame ..yes im that lazy. soooo any thoughts. | ||

Hey Molly, i have the CF "frame" protectors. They look the bees knees, easy to install too. One dealer actually sells them with Velcro strips to attach to the bike, i would'nt take a chance on these tho'. | ||

velcro hahaha never thought of that...where did u get urs and if u dont mind me askin how much did u pay...they seem to vary a lot...id like to get them stateside shipping from europe sux. | ||

Line-x looks awesome...I did my city cross in Line-x...and had them keep the Buell logo showing...I think it came out great...it was nice to not have to worry about the bike looking dirty...it was CHEAP as heck too.. the airbox cover and windscreen came to only $53.00...if you get a spare set of body plastics, it's nice to change out if you want that option. You could probably line-x a lot of the bike, just depends on how much dissassembling you wanted to undertake. it is still pretty new i dont want to take it down to the frame im gettin every cent i can out of my warranty im looking for a salvage buell i can tear apart and mess with...but my frame on the one is making me nuts...i am looking for new plastic but everytime i find some on ebay i get outbid....im kinda cheap hahahaha....how does the line-x feel i thought it might be a little rough on my pants..i should line-x my wheels...who thought white wheels would be a good idea for a motorcycle ? . | ||

the line-x while, rough looking is actually pretty smooth feeling stuff. I didn't really rub on it anywhere, so I don't know how it'd be on the frame with pants on it...but it's always shiny and kinda sparkly in the sunlight.. everyone who saw it, really liked it. I did lights under the airbox cover to shine out of the logo that I left undone. Also, you get some polish stuff, kind of like armor all, to clean and shine it with and that makes it nicely slick feeling..NOT slippery.. | ||

The carbon fiber looks nice but they won't stop your frame from getting the dent. The pucks are thick and have a material that cushions the impact but still has the strength to hold up. | ||

ya i thought about the pucks too im thinkin i can cut holes in the carbon if i go that route if i do line-x then i can just spray right over them...that might look funny though...maybe spray around em. | ||

The carbon fiber looks nice but they won't stop your frame from getting the dent. The pucks are thick and have a material that cushions the impact but still has the strength to hold up. Actually the carbon fibre frame protectors will stop the frame getting dented. Certainly the ones that we offer will, as they have kevlar backing in addition to the carbon outer 'skin'. This is a lot more abrasion resistant than carbon, whilst the carbon is extremely resistant to knocks. You will need to check that the ones you are considering have this kevlar backing, as some of the cheaper ones I have seen don't have it and will not be as strong. The pucks are good in a low speed spill, but we have one customer who slid his bike along the deck and the puck just ripped off as soon as it hit the ground  | ||

Matt the Kevlar is what I had and if that persons puck fell off that was because it wasn't on very well to begin with. I have yet to see a test that they work.... the pucks have been working...seen the results several times on this board. | ||

i was kind of wondering about the pucks...prob why i havent done it yet...they are a stick on thing arent they...and frame sliders and such are usualy bolted or welded on....i had actualy thought about tryin the pucks out on the swingarm but with a stick on thing i didnt figure theyd do me much good in a real hard bail..have thought about makin my own but havent had the time for trail and error..so trojan how much are ur frame rails. thanx for the info everybody its cool to have ideas to bounce off other people nobody i know rides a buell so they just all look at it and go uuuhmm i dunno maybe...it still confuses them hahahaha. | ||

if that persons puck fell off that was because it wasn't on very well to begin with That may be true, but they were fitted at the factory so he wouldn't have known until it was too late unfortunately. so trojan how much are ur frame rails We have 2 types available. Either hand laid carbon/kevlar at GBP160 (US$290 approx) or pre-preg carbon at GBP212 (approx US$380). The difference is in the method of manufacture and the pre-preg items are lighter. Both will give the same protection in the event of a smash. Both are finished in the same weave pattern that matches the rest of our range. | ||

thanx trojan i think those will be my next purchase i cant stand the frame thing anymore....then i can deal with those wonderful white wheels..hey erick white wheels + motorcycle = bad....hey trojan..u ever have anyone paint ur frame rails/protectors im wondering how they would hold paint...pretty much like fiberglass i would think....thanx man...il go checkout what ya got. | ||

The frame protectors can be painted in exactly the same way as fibreglass etc.  |
