Does anyone know the part number for the light bulb that lights up the license plate? This is for '03 XB9S. I was planning on going to the local HD shop and having the part number will help me out a lot when talking to those knuckleheads. Thanks, Matt |

If you have the bulb it should say the numbers on the base of it. Are you talking about the light specifically for the license plate, or the tail light? |

It is the running light that lights up the license plate. I just pulled it out and am going to find one tomorrow. I just wanted to see if anyone knew the part number before, in the worst case, I walk into the dealer and have them tell me that they can't find the Buell book. |

It's a Y0401B.2U... That's from my '04 FireBolt book. I've never taken mine out but I thought it was a standard 1157 dual filament bulb... Kevin |

Looks like you found the bulb you need, but for everyone else. The S and R models are different, the R uses the taillight as the license plate light, but the S models have a separate bulb and housing. |

My '03 XB9S Parts Catalog has it listed as: Y0514B.C BULB, license plate illumination lamp. Hope that helps. -Brad |

Indeed the R and S use different methods for lighting the plate (I think). But an option on the tail of the S's is (after chopping it) to cut the square out at the bottom of the light housing that covers the clear plastic on the bottom of the tail-light. Thus using the tail-light to illuminate the plate (like an R), and not having to worry about relocating the license plate light. |
