Yes, someone has done it here on badweb.

It required quite a bit of modification to do the swap.

I can't remember the name though.

Why does she need a lower seating position? Would raising the passenger pegs help? You can swap those out for Firebolt pegs that'll raise 'em up an inch. I'm not sure I follow. The Lightning Long's passenger accommodations are light years ahead of the regular Lightning's so I don't understand the problem.

I installed the Traction pegs on my Ss, and I find them much more comfortable than stock for my 30" inseam. Stock Firebolt pegs would accomplish the same effect. I've considered going to an R tail on my Ss for purely aesthetic reasons, but I'd hate to lose the comfort of the stock seat. I actually prefer it to the Corbin on my Harley for longer trips.

Tommy_k has done the Ss to S rear subframe swap. There's a nice writeup on it around here somewhere. It looks awesome, but if I recall the swap took a lot of work

I assume she wants to be able to touch ground a little better when she drives it herself? - at 6' I can just flatfoot - my gal friend sat on it (as operator) and didn't even come close to be able to touch - so I can imagine why.

Take it to someone that does custom upholstery. I took my seat on my Ss to a guy in Jersey and he shaved about 2" off it. it is still really comfortable. Rode it for about three-four hours after the alteration and it was still as comfortable as hell. A friend mine has a cruiser and the first thing he commented about when he got off was how comfortable the seat was. It cost about $100. Well worth it.

As a more long term thing I wonder if the low suspension components would fit on the ss.

That was me. It did take some work on the side rail(had to be ground down), and some cramming of the longer hoses and wiring harness, but we got it done. Here's what it'll look like:

Ss with short tail

nother angle

Was able to keep the stock Ss shock...had to cutout undertray a bit for hose routing, and spring clearance. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys.

Dick, no problem. It'll be a reach for her, but I'm seen guys that short learn to ride 250 dirt bikes...so she can learn too. Shoot me a pm with any questions, and I'll try to help.

Good luck,
Tom
