I may have just figured out a way to remove the white stains from the frame (caused by either fuel or wax)...

As I was washing the bike and wondering as to how the heck am I going to remove the hideous white stains all
over the "grey" parts of the bike, when I noticed that near the swingarm filler can there are no stains...

-So I thought that maybe oil is the solution...

-I took some fresh oil and rubbed it into the "grey" parts of the bike (think of it as giving the frame an oil massage, sexy thought eh?),
and I let that somewhat thick layer sit for a little bit. Then I took some clean towels and polished the oil away, now the bike is back to
looking and feeling when it was shiny and new...

-They key is to make sure to remove all excess oil, and polish it away... otherwise crud will get stuck to the frame and such...

Next time you wash it, with soap that would strip the oil away, does it still look good?

I'm curious if this is like the armor-all effect. Just covering up, not cleaning?

The stains could have been oil based, hence when you rub oil into them, the bond is loosened and you can wipe them off. This would also explain why soap & water didn't clean them before.

well it would only make sense that the wax
was some oil based crud... as it is
made to repel water, and as Bigwallfish mentioned
did not wash off the previous times...
I will surely include an update once I wash it again.

I suppose the lesson here is...
NEVER use wax on the frame.

Armorall works great for the whole bike. Don't use Turtle Wax, that makes some nasty white marks. I just use a good detergent made for washing vehicles and then Armorall the whole stinking thing! Looks great and it's protected (until it gets filthy again anyway)

I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one who did this...

"Ooo..I'll wax the frame, that will be good." Not.

Xbeau12s, which armorall product are you refering to? I use mothers car wash soap stuff what do you use?
Stevenknapp, those where my thoughts exactly...
Molly_hatchet, correct me if I am wrong but you have a 9... if so I can see why waxing would not have an adverse effect, the frame is silver and does not appear to be nearly as porous

I use:

Armor All Car Wash Concentrate & Armor All Original (For Rubber, Plastic & Vinyl) Works great and shines all the time. The wax at the carwash works fine if you want to wax it. Done it many times with no problems.

I just use silicone detailer spray on the whole bike after it is washed...plastics, frame, seat, all rubber parts, etc. It really seals it up and after doing this for the last 20 years all of my bikes have always looked good after a number of years.

Plastics and paint are always drying out...applying things like silicone, armor all, etc add moisture back to the material to keep it from cracking, shrinking, and hazing over.

I was just at the Harley Shop and they sell this stuff (I think it was called S21) Just spray it on a cool bike and wash off. That's it, pretty simple stuff, wanted like $8.00 for it. Came in a white bottle with green lettering, one had blue lettering. I just wish I remembered the name exactly?
