I am thinking of doing my upgrades to the XB12Ss in increments. Phase one: K&N filter with stock ECM. Phase two: Race ECM and aftermarket exhaust. My question is: With the addition of a K&N filter, will the bike be too lean for the stock ECM and exhaust? Will the bike be better off if I add the race ECM when I do the K&N swap or will it be too rich? Bottom line is that the new exhaust won't happen until this fall but I want to ensure I do the right thing for my XB. I appreciate any and all help ya'll can give me.... Lee |

You will be fine with just the K+N for now When you do the exhaust you'll need the race ecm or DL tuning |

If I go with the Econo Drummer, will I need the race ECM since it utilizes the exhaust valve? Lee |

The Econo Drummer is designed to run exclusively with the stock ecm. The stock ecm is needed because the Econo Drummer uses the exhaust valve. So no, you don't need the race ecm with the Econo Drummer. (Message edited by metalstorm on June 05, 2006) |

Does any mapping need to be done with the ECM if you use the econodrummer? |

I don't think so but you might want to post this question in the Drummer section of the Sponsors' section. Kevin & Jerseyguy are pretty quick to answer questions there. I'm betting they'll say no mapping needed. |
