See the post in "storm fronts" The listings are alphabetically listed rather than chronologically. It's under "P" for proposed ride. Anyone from around that area know how close the Blue Ridge Pkwy will get us to deals gap if travelling south? Better yet, can anyone suggest a route from the B.R.Parkway to the dragon? Ride to the end of the Parkway. That's Cherokee. Turn right, through Smoky Mtn. Park, to Gatlinburg. Turn left on 321(Ithink)to Foothills Parkway. Rip to 129, turn left. Stop at Deal's Gap store, catch breath, head back the other way. |

The ride thru the Smokys to Gatlinburg is a long one, especially stuck behind some RV's with no passing for 45 miles. Most direct route from Parkway is to Cherokee, a mile or so, to Bryson City about 15 miles or so, to Robbinsville about another 15 or 20 miles and you are just about to the N.C. side of 129. LOTS closer than the Tenn. side to the end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Get a map, it's easy to see what I mean. Don't Miss the drive thru the Smoky Mt. National Park, it probably is your best experience on the whole trip, if you have never been there. |
