Hey guys, looking at a 05 xb12s (or does a yellow rear shock mean cg?) approx. 1000mi very clean with factory race kit.Do I need to be aware of any problem areas in this year? Also what do you think a fair CA. price would be? |

Not sure about the shock. I bought an 05 XB12S last Aug. for $8000 new (well 400 miles, but never titled.) I have 3200 mi. on it now and the only problem I had was a loose compensator nut(covered under warranty). If it seems to be "knocking" rather loudly, that's probably the cause. Other than that, I would suggest shopping for tires. Factory Dunlops don't make it much past 3000 mi. (and I don't ride hard...YET!) |

The yellow shock spring is definetly the low shock...look at my profile on my xb12scg. Fair price im not sure of right now. Only one thing I can think of right now..Make sure that it has the updated wheel bearings in front and back theye red. Good luck! 8900 miles so far. My bike has earned all of em too. No problems thus far. (Message edited by sgthigg on June 03, 2006) |

I just traded my city cross for an 05 scg, yes, yellow spring denotes low model. Bike had 250 miles on it, i got it for a little over 8000.00. For me it was totally worth it, the bike's the perfect height for me, tons of torque and has been running super...getting a race kit in a week or so... Hope you're able to pick it up if it's not too short...it's a VERY comfy bike to ride! |

Being as everything here in CA is so freak'n expensive, I'd say between 7500 & 8500 grand is what someone would be expecting to get for a one year old clean 12Scg with only a 1000 miles on it. I'll bet he'll be asking for over 9 grand expecting the possible buyer to bring the price down. The only problem I had with my bike (an 05 12Scg by the way) was a chaffed wire along the steering neck. It was hard to find but was a quick fix once found & I've been trouble free ever since. |

He's in CA. He can't get one from Daves. CA residents must buy CA bikes unless they have over 7500 miles on them. Also, things here in CA are really more expensive than just about anywhere. If I could have gotten a bike from Daves I would have jumped at the opportunity. |

ya nailed it on the head..they don't give these bikes away in Ca.Blows me away the difference in cost from here to back east.Talked to the guy today hope to see it next weekend and negotiate price...all the new dealers in Ca. don't seem to get to far away from MSRP plus tax, lic.and other fees.About 12 grand or so.. |

Yep, When I got my 05 last year it was 12,196.00 out the door after all the fees & taxes. I was financing it so I didn't have any leverage for bargaining. Not that it would have mattered. None of the dealers I talked to in the Bay Area were interested in bargaining anyway. It was MSRP or go home. |

Hey dogboy, I know what you guys mean about the prices here in Cali, outrageous, but you may want to see if cycle center of fremont could get you a decent price on something. I searched high and low all over california and I couldn't find hardly anyone that wanted to deal, then I called cycle center and I ended up getting a brand new leftover 05 xb12s earlier this year for $8590 otd after all fees. Just a thought though. It seems that cycle center have been called hit and miss by a few but they have been great to me and they have really taken good care of me as a customer so far, including some warranty work where they drove their mototransport truck out to my place picked up my bike and brought it back after it was fixed because I was too busy to take it out there |

"Dude move to another state..lol j/k " I agree one thousand percent & that's no joke If not for my parents being old and in need of me being close by I would have moved to Idaho long ago. I love the Lewiston area & you can actually afford to live there & the people are cool. But as long as my family needs me I shall endure Marin County, CA & all the crud that comes with it for us poor folk. If you're rich or at least above the poverty level (make at least 80K a year), CA is a beautiful place to live. But for us pavers who make less than 30K a year it is... challenging With that said, I have no regret about paying such a grotesque sum for my Buell. She's worth it. And I only have 48 more payments to go until I actually own her! Woohoo! |
