Well, I polished them before with "Euro-Walmart Brand Polish" and I thought they looked sharp.  In the above pic I think one pipe is only polished to show the difference ( I forget ). This is using the "Euro'Walmart" polish. But... everytime I looked at the bike I saw the potential for more. After reading, researching ect ect, I went to work again. This time armed with a better polish (tube is in garage and I cannot remember), and some sandpaper, and steel wool. It still could be better, if you were nitpicking it, but I'm very satisfied. BadBuell- No didn't quite glue it. It's a Rizoma License Plate bracket. If you want one, good luck.... Rizoma isn't producing them anymore, and I was told I purchased the last one available. That is a pretty cool license plate bracket, but I would shred that thing riding wheelies! One trip to the balance point and that thing would be gone. | ||

I had stainless pipes on one of my Victory's and they turned gold all the time. I got tired of acid washing them and switched pipes! MB | ||

06 headers to have a coating on them. They are coated with something that provides it with a course texture. Definately need to sand it down to get a "good" shine. DTX - You pipes look a little tinted? Olin- From my judgement, if you hit the bracket... you're already too far. The plate is just a regular plate so I would think in the event that you managed to save your huge wheelie (brake pedal) and the plate snagged the ground, the plate would just bend, IMO. I don't know, I ride with Olin and we do the same stuff. I'm with him, I think it would scrape pavement right at the balance point, sometimes I have to go past balance in order to slow down on a wheelie...  (Message edited by duff24 on May 31, 2006) | ||

pretty much until I get to the next stoplight...or a freakin car TURNS IN FRONT OF ME! from first gear to third gear, take your pick...usually standing up in 3rd, tho. | ||

The 06 headers ARE NOT coated!! They are however Media Blasted, usually a fine plastic or natural material such as walnut shells or the like. That blasting removes no metal, but leavs a fine texture on the otherwise smooth stainless steel. You would have to rub like a son-of-a-gun to get them polished. It would be easier to fine sand, steel wool, and then polish them no doubt. Just thought I would throw that out there. Bruce If speed kills, do brakes give life!! | ||

I've ridden with Duff and he can keep the bike pointed straight up as long as the road don't curve (too much). it's F'N sick how long he can ride it. think he starts the show around 55mph in third gear. | ||

Kyle, My pipes have been through the heat cycles, so they are a nice uniform GOLD color. They were silver at first, but now the nice shiney gold color. Yours will probably do this too. | ||

I was thinking of painting my pipes with high temp flat black paint. Do I need to remove the header or just tape and cover all other parts that will not be painted? tanks | ||

It's a real pain to remove the headers, you'll have to drop the motor from it's mounts. I say just tape off whatever you can and do it that way. You think the high temp will work alright? Curious to see what it looks like after several hundred miles... | ||

You can just tape it off, I guess it's just a matter of preferance. Not sure of the durability of the hi temp paint though. | ||
