Trying to help a buddy out diagnose a speedo problem on his 03 XB9R and the knowledge vault said the sensor was behind the belt cover but there are like 4 sets of wires back there which one is it? Here is a picture of the harness. The problem is his odometer/spedo does not work. http://members.rennlist.com/dan87951/wires.jpg (Message edited by buellxb9r on May 30, 2006) |

the sensor goes into the top of the engine case right above the front pulley. It is a three wire connector. Grey, white, and black with a white tracer. BDWD......... Biker Dads With Daughters est.2006 defending our sweet little girls from those bad bad boys. You're not one of THEM are you?

If the XB is like the older tube frame Buells then in your linked picture just stretch out your pinky finger sideways to the left over the top of the transmission area, you should see a plastic plug held down with one screw and with a few wires covered with a sheath, that should be the speedo sensor if the XB is like an M2 for where the speedo sensor plugs in. Maybe someone can post a pic of the top of an XB tranny area showing where the sensor plugs into the case. If an XB sensor plugs into the case different than an M2 then ignore everything I just typed.

Here is a picture of the bolt holding the speedo sensor in place. This is right at the back of the front pulley cover and in towards the centerline of the bike about 2".
