I got an e-mail asking me how I dyed my plastics. After I looked at my old thread - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/184773.html I realized I never posted pics of the colors - so here it is. All of the colors are liquid RIT dye over Yellow plastics. -Steve

Dapope, Nice! What did you get the black result with? Most of the black attempts I've seen resulted in purple. Sherm |

Any larger pictures of the test parts? The dark blues are getting my attention. Test parts were initially yellow, as I read from your other post. (Message edited by t9r on May 31, 2006) |

No purple tint. The black looks great. However I keep stressing that I used the liquid dye, not the powder. RIT offers both kinds. The one powder I tried was "Grey Pearl" I think and it never quite mixed properly and I actually had some purple/black flecks over the whole piece.
Sorry I don't have a better pic of the black bike or of the pieces. |

Oh - for the black I used 45cc black dye per gallon of water. That is much more dye than all of the other colors but I wanted it as dark as possible. |
