I've been having a problem which affects the headlight and causes hard starts(sometimes) At night(probably during the day too) my head lights go from dim to normal and back to dim over and over this happens less further into a ride. It dims out instantly but goes back to normal gradually. When starting its does a half turn, stops for a half of second then keeps turning. I think its the voltage regulator but maybe someone has had the same problem? Oh yea the bike is an 04 XB12R with 3700 miles (Message edited by rzirkle on May 27, 2006) |

look for loose connector ( next to countershaft sprocket, under plastic shroud on right side, access with T27 torx bit), and also check tightness of both battery cable screws. also possible to develop worn/ chafed wires at point where voltage regulator cable curves rearward around the right front of crankcase, in close to clutch cable and oil pressure switch. No , that does not sound like a defective voltage regulator. good luck. |

Take a look at the fuse for the lights. I have had to put just a little twist between the two tangs on the fuse to get a tight fit into the fuse block. |
