anyone having race-kitted '05 xb12r & having holesawed (swiss-cheesed) airbox on r side to reflect '06 models .. & perhaps even drilled holes in area of airbox directly behind fuel filler cap .. find that bike exhibits a 'powerband' feel (reminiscent of 2 strokes) on acceleration? i crashed doing a wheelie after performing above mods & my buddy rode rebuilt bike & said he scared himself riding it (he has '06 xb12s) & rides hard like me ... does this sound right?! |

ooh it IS fun .. but very different to the bike i used to have! it even makes a *powerband* loud, quick revvy noise after 5000rpm .. its the last 1000-1500 that makes the f*cker light up! woo eee |

Powerband? Oh...... you mean that thing that lets me select any gear I want and just roll throttle on and off in the twisties? That powerband? Yes I like it very much. Far more fun than the frantic shifting on my old gixxer. Now if I'm riding faster I still shift, but nothing like the 600 sport bikes do! I'd rather sweat than bleed, wouldn't you? White is definitely the FASTEST color Buell.

I know what you're talking about Von. I really noticed the 'hit' after adding the race kit on my 9 and experienced that same feeling. (although not nearly as intense) I rode on dirt for years before moving to the pavement. $Cheap$ Fast-----> Reliable. Pick Two.

I noticed after puting on my Drummer, the power was pushed into the upper RPMs a little bit more. Lost a little torque down low, but added more up top. THis is what happens when you increase the air flow alot more and not so much fuel. if you increase the fuel up to par with the other stuff, it should help keep the power band more at the original spots. |

I've got the xb9s jardine, open airbox kit, k&N and buell race ecm. Big power gap from 3-4k and after that watch out. I noticed such a big boost on top end, It now lofts the front at around 5k rpms in 3rd. Def feel that powerband feel, right around 5-5300 or so on up to 6500 just a rocket. Kinda depressed i dont have the low down tourque that i used to but might switch to the drummer i hear thats the ultimate low down grunt puller. |
